Posted - Sep 19 2013 : 10:09:40 AM One thing cool about sunflower butter and sunflower oil is its high in vitamin E. Most nuts are not. So it has a longer shelf life. I had looked this up a few weeks ago cause I didn't want to use veggie oils like canola and corn.I use olive oil but sometimes want a mild oil for other things. So I switched to sunflower oil and its so light and nice tasting. Sunbutter is very good I think your son will like it.

Posted - Sep 16 2013 : 5:07:08 PM I don't know about making it, but I love the Sunbutter brand jar we buy. Seems like after the cost and effort, you might just as well buy it. Target has it for $5.99 and it lasts a LONG time. I've even used it for cookies and treats that call for peanut butter. My little one doesn't have an allergy, but her school is nut free also. She loves it (and I've never told her otherwise). I put some local honey on it just to "sweeten" it a little. Always an empty lunchbox when she comes home!

Posted - Sep 16 2013 : 07:21:41 AM Hi Bonnie, My hubbie became allergic to peanuts, but he can eat sun butter, which I buy a jar weekly. I would think all you need to make it would be the same as homemade peanut butter, using a little bit of honey for a sweetener.
