I came across this recipe a couple of weeks ago and finally gave it a try this past week. They worked great and take up so much less room than canning or freezing stock. This is now my "go to" way of preserving stock :)

Made chicken broth yesterday, defatted and reduced it down today, and put in freezer in ice trays.

Beef broth is cooking away on stove and will defat and make bouillon cubes tomorrow. Freeze in ice trays.

Defrosting vegetable broth to cook down for bouillon cubes when beef broth is out of stock pot.

I was so excited to see this posted, I have my first batch on as I had a meal with chicken yesterday. It simmered all night. house smelled so good. now cooking down. yeah. thank you

The pies so yummy! Love tucking pie shells away....saved me many times!

Thanks for sharing the cube recipe. This will really save on the freezer room.
I'll try once our beef comes back.

You know, I had seen videos on how to make your own bouillon crystals on YouTube. I wanted to try that, too. But this recipe really sounds a lot easier and a lot less time consuming. I'm really excited! You always have the best ideas, sister! :)

Terralea - you are amazing! An inspiration! You GO girl!!! Are you freezing all those pies? You can just make your pie crusts ahead of time and freeze them, too. You can either roll them up in between layers of parchment (like the ones in the grocery store - only WAY better!) or freeze them in tin pans and layering them with parchment in between. Pretty nifty stuff!

Terralea, 46 pies - that's marvelous - I can't imagine how much work & planning within to making them. I don't enjoy baking - don't like all the measuring - but I sure to like pies.

Still waiting for that chicken sale. I do have a $1 coupon for one store brand chicken - may have to go ahead and use it before it expires.

I can't wait to try this! I love doing things like this. Just made 46 pies with my own rendered lard used in the crust. Great tasting crusts! Yaaaa "Homemade"!

Sara, I made chicken because we had a roasted chicken the other night. I want to do beef and I often make vegetable stock so will be trying that too :)

Sharon, I have the recipe from when you posted on another topic. I'm glad you posted it here because more FarmGirls will see it. I'm still waiting for chicken to go on sale for 79 cents a lb. so I can make it.
