Posted - Jun 07 2015 : 2:05:32 PM I am about to be overwhelmed with a bumper crop of red currants. Last year I froze them but I still have plenty of them left in the freezer. So I am thinking about investing in a juicing machine so we can enjoy fresh fruit juices. In addition to the currants we raise strawberries, blueberries and raspberries as well as italian plums, apples, nectarines and apricots. And, of course garden vegetables. So I want to find a machine that is versatile. What kind of machine do you use? What do you like/dislike about it? Any suggestions or insight is much appreciated.
Cheers! ~ Marilyn

After watching the documentary "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead," I decided we needed to add juicing to our family's nutrition. So I got the one he used on the documentary and it isn't badly priced either. Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus 850-Watt Juice Extractor
It works really well and isn't terrible to clean up. We had another brand a long time ago that was awful, so in comparison...it's a great investment for clean up and juice! :)
I highly recommend watching the documentary as well! http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/ Here is his website: http://www.rebootwithjoe.com/
Happy Juicing! :)

Posted - Jun 11 2015 : 07:05:26 AM Thanks for the suggestions Amy and Nicole. Good morning ET.....no I haven't made a choice yet. I already have a great blender, so I'm really looking for a straight juicer. I think I will go look around a bit this weekend. I may not be in such a hurry as I first thought....it seems a certain someone watered his vegetables but not my fruit garden while I was on vacation so the currants are not ripening. Sigh.....

Posted - Jun 11 2015 : 06:50:21 AM I keep dreaming of a Vitamix. Last year I splurged and finally bought myself a KitchenAid mixer -- maybe it's time for another splurge.

Posted - Jun 10 2015 : 7:34:37 PM I LOVE my Vitamix. I know it is expensive, but boy howdy! It does everything. I make smoothies, nut butters, chopped veggies, hot soups, ice cream, slaw, everything. I have a variable speed, so I can control the intensity of the chop. I can put in carrots, onions etc, and pulse for a second and have perfect slaw ingredients. (in fact, I made a zucchini slaw that won 1st prize at the fair, and didn't chop a single vege by hand!) Also, at the end of the gardening season, if I have misc tomatoes that are sort of half good, I cut off the bad, put in the Vitamix, skin, seeds and all, and blend. You CANNOT tell there is seed or skin or ANYTHING but tomato. (plus the skin has good vitamins in it) Their warranty is better than any car, and they are made in the US. Any repairs, they pay shipping to and from. I waited for a few years to buy, and got mine with an income tax refund. No regrets. (and this is not a paid endorsement..LOL)

Posted - Jun 10 2015 : 11:04:04 AM I love my Jack Lalane juicer and when the used one I bought bit the dust, bought a new one. It is strictly for juice. I love the taste of fresh orange and carrot, for example. I've heard some complain about cleaning it, but I use a dish brush and have no issues.
I also have a Nutibullet. I love that too, but it makes thicker things, shake-like with pulp.
