Posted - Sep 19 2025 : 4:32:51 PM Part of our annual Apple Festival at MJF, is the tradition to celebrate an Apple Sunday. We always have it on the last Sunday of September and this year that date is September 28th.
Since there are many ways to enjoy apples, this Sunday tradition includes eating apples anyway you wish. Favorite recipes might be something savory, frozen, any sort of dessert , and salads. The sky is the limit . We just like to wind down our annual Festival with your favorite apple dish. If you can, please post what you ate, a photo if possible, and let's all have fun seeing other Farmgirls' choices.
I look forward to seeing what shows up this year!
Bon Appetit!

Posted - Sep 29 2025 : 07:01:10 AM We had our international dinner last night. I made pastel de choclo for a main dish and a big apple crisp for dessert. There was apple cake and apple pie there as well. We had dishes from Alaska, Chile and Taiwan. I brought an empty dish home from the apple crisp and 1 serving of my main dish. So it seems apple crisp was a major hit! Today I am drying apples, Ida Rose and Jonathans.

Posted - Sep 28 2025 : 12:51:30 PM So far today for Apple Pie Sunday, we've only picked apples from a dozen different trees, sampling as we go. Of course, my grandson Tristan wanted to be on the ladder picking even though we didn't need a ladder. Our trees are so abundant this year and the tree branches so loaded, most of the fruit is within reach. I'm thinking we'll make a plum tort and an apple crisp. My granddaughter Mia loves pears, so she picked a bucket for just herself.
Happy Apple Pie Sunday!
P.S. Now I'm thinking apple muffins for tomorrow. Yum Heather.

Posted - Sep 28 2025 : 10:42:44 AM For Apple Pie Sunday I made an apple upside down cake in my mini rice cooker with apples I canned last fall. I had a slice and it was okay but not the texture of a cake baked in the oven. The canned apples were good.
