Posted - Sep 19 2008 : 4:46:10 PM My dishwasher has a stinky smell. Any advice or suggestions on how to get rid of the smell? I was thinking of using baking soda, adding it to the detergent dispenser, then just let it run without dishes...on a short cycle. Thanks!

Posted - Sep 22 2008 : 07:56:31 AM I have heard of using Tang also, but had forgotten about it. The acid in it probably would do a good job! |

Posted - Sep 21 2008 : 11:27:54 PM I have a similar problem with no obvious reason for it. I finally did the borax and vinegar thing. To keep on top of it I take a paper towel and spot it three of four times with vinegar right from the jug and put it in the dishwasher between washings and no problem, just don't forget to take the paper towel out before you start it!! Posted - Sep 20 2008 : 05:38:22 AM Hey Alee! I have a food trap in the middle and it looks clear. The borax and baking soda idea sounds good. My question though...would I dump the borax and baking soda into the dishwasher, or should I put some in the soap dispenser? Thank you for your help!

Posted - Sep 19 2008 : 5:53:44 PM Hi Judy!
Have you checked the food trap towards the back or sometimes in the middle? It is to keep large chunks of food from clogging the hose, but sometimes all it does is cause a big stink in the washer! I would run a load of borax and baking soda with no dishes (maybe a cup each for a really stinky washer) and at the rinse cycle put in a cup or so of vinegar.
