I tried to join a farmgirl chapter but it didn't come together. I'm in Birmingham right now but am interested in relocating. I'm a published writer and now I'm making and selling aprons. I want to drastically reduce my cost of living and get back to nature.

Blessings,
KM

Thank you all for the big farmgirl welcome. I checked out your websites and this is a great forum or a wonderful bunch of women. Wow, Tina Michelle, do you think Thomasville, GA is a good spot for a writer? But you all are in Florida, right.

They are beautiful! Of course I love Miss Jenny Beth, being a horsy, cowgirl sort. Does MaryJane know about your aprons? Do you sell them at markets also? I love the names. MB

Also, Virginia, I read most of your blogger and must say I will soon return to do the rest. Very interesting and witty. I cooked on a ranch years ago, I was only 19, and there were only 6 cowboys. They like to eat and can really put away the grub. They said they liked my cooking though. I loved it and got to ride all (well not all) the horses when I had no chores to do. MB

A BIG warm welcome to you Virginia! This is the place you want to be! You will make many friends and learn lots! P.S. I saw on your blog you have a vintage trailer! So do I! I am a member of Sisters on the Fly (and cowgirl caravan). Don't you just love these little trailers?!!!

Hey Virginia,

Welcome to the group. I've been here for about 2 months I think...it's a real nice place to be

Alot of us around here sew aprons as I guess you have seen...Lots of pretty designs...Your designs are very stylish and pretty!

I'm another citygirl/farmgirl

I am about 95 miles north of Birmingham off of I-59 in Valley Head...I'm about 45 miles from Chattanooga also.

I hate you couldn't get the chapter to come together..I'm sure you will find one or maybe you would like to start one yourself and watch it grow

Email me anytime...I would love to meet others with common interest in my area since I'm not from here...

Peace, Stephanie

Big hug to you too MaryJane:

And here is my blog:
http://kitchenmadonna.blogspot.com/

How about this for a barter: Someone find me a good farmer husband and you get a life supply of aprons! LOL I figure that is the only way to get back to the country and not have to run the John Deer all by myself. LOL

I was just at the Henegar Potato Festival for the Fourth of July, not far from you. I love driving on Highway 11. Are you in a chapter?

No, not yet! But I'm in such a tiny community and don't know anyone....so, how long have you lived in Birmingham? Do you know lots of gals that may want to get a chapter started if they didn't have to lead it?

Virginia,
Welcome! I love your fabrics and aprons. I too am a big fan of the kitchen Madonna (just the Madonna really). I have a statue front and present in my kitchen. I think you will really like it here.

Thank you Merle. It feels great already!

And Stephanie, I don't know anyone else here who feels this way. That is why I am looking to move to a small rural community. Don't fit in here since living on a ranch. I guess the clue was when I plowed up my suburban backyard and planted 15 packages of seed, including corn. Since the neighbors were looking askance anyway, I just went ahead and strung up a clothesline! So I used to be a city girl but not now.

I wouldn't mind starting one.

Sounds like you definitely need to get to the outskirts of town...LOL

I shop in Trussville every few months...There is a Quilting shop and a Sewing machine shop that sells a bit of fabric and I've heard that a Knitting shop has moved into this same strip shopping center...Gotta go check it out.

Maybe we can meet in Trussville the next opportunity I have to go??
Let me know, OK?

Peace, Stephanie
