HI Ladies!
I'm fairly new here & am looking for fellow "farmgirls" from the Northern Illinois or Southern Wisconsin. Anybody out there?

Hi, fellow Illinoisian! I'm south of you a bit, in Northbrook. There are other farmgirls in Chicagoland/Northern Illinois as well. Erin was in Kenosha, but she just moved back east to Virginia. Anyhow, welcome in.

Sorry, Laura. I'm not from your area, either. But I send you a big Kentucky WELCOME, anyhow! :D

Welcome Laura! I'm from Homer Glen, which is almost an hour south of you. My husband and I are members of the Chicago Botanical Garden. We're up in your area every other week or so. We love CBG!

I am a farmgirl from way back living in Prospect Heights, IL and have been trying to find an active Farm Girl Chapter to participate in. I miss the sense of community I knew when I had a rural life and need an outlet for my creativity. Maybe we can hook up with Katie-ell and some of the other No. IL / So. WI gals and get something going. Welcome to MaryJanesFarm. You're gonna love it here!
I wasn't born in a barn, but I was raised in one. |

Hey Laura, Hello from Kentucky, happy to meet you!! I am new here too, have never blogged, but have followed Mary Jane even before we bought a farm. I am almost 50, ran my own company for emergency response in California, married for 33 years this year, mother of five children (three daughters, two sons, ages 21 to 27)home schooled through high school, put four of the children in college and attended with them. Three son in laws, one new Kentucky daughter in law and another one on the porch. Emie to seven grand babies with number eight on the way any day. We have lived the military life 12 years, my husband is a 100% disabled vet, lived in the city (big & small) and now we feel are living the best life, ever. You should of seen the look on our kids faces the day we told them we bought an Amish farm in Kentucky. A place we did not know a single person. Four of the five children moved with us and the middle daughter and son in law did come for two months, but went back to the very big city. We also have a blue & gold macaw "Sammy" we moved to the farm. Both of our dogs (Stanley & Harley) we moved with us have died, the trip was too much for Stanley and Harley was hit and killed instantly by a farm vehicle. We are doing all the things we have dreamed about forever and we say to each other at least once a day "who would of ever thought". My husband gave me Belgians for our anniversary Betty and Charlie and I am going to plow my own gardens. We have never owned horses, I have loved the big guys my entire life. Our family has been taken in by the Amish community where we live. I feel like a child that has been let out to play and have I played hard for the last 18 months. Some days my body tells me I have played to hard!! I am a saved believer in Jesus Christ, hopeless romantic, use hankies and doiles, I sew, crochet, bake, am trying heirloom organic gardening, will be raising chickens for eggs shortly. I want to learn to can, quilt, speak pennslyvannia dutch, and anything else that is Farm Girl related. I apologize for this long introduction, but I am so happy to be here with all of you "who would of ever thought" I would one day be chatting with farm girls. (I do hope I did this right).

Welcome Justmama from Amish Kentucky. Your husband bought you some treasures when he bought that breed of horse for you. They are cold blooded and will teach you much about compassion, patience, endurance, and understanding, far more than the kids.Nice to have you here and I hope to get to know such a fine farm girl better!
