Humptulips to be exact...no kidding. Special weather statement for us this weekend for rain...lotsa rain...sigh. And that's not even the real reason its called Grays Harbor County.

Anyhow, here's the dirt on a new Farmgirl: 5 acres, level and waterlogged. Smallish house, biggish hideous metal barn/garage/mouse haven, medium-sized greenhouse, struggling veg garden, an infant orchard, a big smelly dog, elderly cat, no chickens yet, but plans for some sooner rather than later. Handsome husband, grown daughter away from home now, and one tired Farmgirl, who might, for the first time in her 48 years, have bitten off more than she can chew with this piece of real estate.

We have been here for 3 years, almost. Husband retired from his corporate job six months ago. We are "diversifying" our potential income-earning plans: wholesale nursery, growing willow for crafting, and possibly some U-pick flowers and berries later on.

I am happy I found soul sisters. I look forward to getting to know you all. Hugs, Kath

Welcome Kath!! Your place sounds great to me. I love smallish houses and big smelly dogs and I sure wish we were having rain right now!!! A greenhouse sounds wonderful too!! My garden is strugggling this year since we have had such extreme heat.
Your income earning ideas sound great! And you will love having chickens..I can't imagine life without them!! I look forward to hearing about your adventures and getting to know you. We are the same age.
Welcome!

Welcome Kath-

Your town certainly has an interesting name! What is the history behind that? I hope you get some sunny days soon so that your land dries out.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome from another Western Washingtonian but now quite as far west as you. We had record rains today and the week ends looks about the same. Your place sounds so much like many of us---you will fit right in. Your diversifying sound wonderful and tiring. Again Welcome. MB

Hi Kathleen
I'm as far south as you are north!! We get a lot of rain but plenty of sun to dry it all up!!!
They call us tropical- honestly, I couldn't take the overcast skies I've heard about up your way.
But your place sounds great!! Big smelly dogs keep scary people away from us farmgirls!I'm your age as well and relate to the tired feeling. Our 10 acres seems bigger the older we get!! Can't wait till my hubby CAN retire so we can do what we love together- garden, and talk!!!
Glad to meet ya,neighbor!

Hi Kath - Love the name of your town! Your place and your life sounds like we will all want to hear more! I have a friend who just moved to Bellingham, on the west side of the Cascades, and she loves it.

Welcome!

Hi Kath and welcome, It just wouldn't be a farm without a dog or two or in our case 4 running around. Gotta have something to bark at all the things that don't belong. Know the feeling about the tired thing. I just finished a 12 and 1/2 hour shift that started at 5 am to come home and help my daughter gather her eggs. We finally got some much needed rain here. so things are looking greener. and I am starting to get visits from the elves. the ones that leave a whole milk crate of zucchini's and squash in my garage when I am asleep or gone. (time to make the pickles. LOL) but I love it wouldn't have it anyother way. Glad you found us and welcome aboard.

Hi Kath! Welcome - I love it here at MJF. You are also a neighbor of sorts - I live in Elma and go to Aberdeen to shop. We should try and get together - as far as I can tell we are the only two Grays Harbor people on here. I've been trying to get a chapter together, so if you're interested, let me know.
