Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes. I have several questions about how to pronounce my name, Hanane.
Ha (like haha) nan(like nana) the e is silent. It is there so that the French will say the H other wise in France I would be Anan
It is an Arabic name which means a mother's love.
Again thanks for the welcome.

How pretty! And I love the orgin and meaning! Would you mind if I passed this on to my horse breeder friends? They breed Egyptian Arabians and always try to give the foals an Arabic name.

glad to hear from you again, i was starting to worry, were did she go? thanks for the help on your name, it is pretty with a nice meaning. when i was in college, back in the dark ages, no , really, i had a roommate who was palestinian, her name was sena. she targht me a few arabic phrases that i still use today. it was a wonderful experience cause she was just a wonderful person. she grew up in ramallah and her sister was a television reporter in jordan. every once in a while we would see her on nbc nightly news, and we would all squeal with delight. sena was a math teacher at a private catholic school in houston. her dad was a retired dr. on the west bank but he still practiced medicine as a volunteer. the 2 years i lived with sena were such fun, and i learned alot from her. it made me view the world a little differently. gosh, i didnt mean to go on but i just had such nostalgic feelings when you said your name was arabic. i love thinking about those times with sena and the great fun we had and seeing america through her eyes. it taught me alot. well, have a nice day hanane. keef hallick(this is my phonetic attempts, hope i'm not really saying something bad>) habibe fran really if i have said something bad so sorry, but let me know cause i say these things all the time and have taught them to my children and grandchildren.
love fran
