Anybody here from or know anything about Centerville Utah?
My mom lived there as a new mother and after reading the MJ Lifebook was curious if there were any Farmgirls out that way.
It's been over 50 yrs since she lived there but the kindness she was treated too is as fresh as if it were yesterday.

She mentioned chokecherry jelly also.
Anybody have input?

OK Just if it's not a big deal- if anyone you know goes to Centerville- could ya pick up a postcard? I'll be happy to pay ya back + postage. I think it would mean a lot to my mom.
She lived there when my older brother was born. He was killed in a boating accident 20 yrs ago and sometimes I think that time in Centerville was the happiest time for her. Especially remembering the kindness of her farm town neighbors. I think she said their name was Sessions.
I wish I knew the old address- ok too much nostalgia -sorry!
Tks girls!

Hi Autumn, The mention of chokecherry jelly makes my DH go crazy! His Aunt Fern from Salt Lake and other Aunts, Aunt Maxine Greenwood & Aunt Melissa Robinson from American Fork, all made this jelly! The family ran sheep in the hills nearby and would find chokecherries! DH grew up on it, then when we got married we had to go visit his Aunts for some of that old fashion chokecherry jelly! We finally found it up in a cute counrty store in Julian, CA. Now we have it special ordered and delivered to our home! Yummy! Tell your Mother I am thinking of her!

Hi Grace! It is a small-like cherry found on a bush! I "Google"d chokecherry jelly and tons of recipes came up! All I know is that the jelly is hard to find! Must have lots of "them' bushes" in Utah!

None of course in MY town..dang..I love chokecherry jelly! My mom made it when I was a kid during the time we lived in Idaho and I made it when I lived in Idaho for a time as an adult. But then there are all sorts of different growing areas in Utah.

Couldn't pass this one by.... West Haven (where I live) is about 20 minutes north of Centerville. Pass by it everyday on the commute into the city. Autumn, I'd be happy to pick up a postcard on my way home one evening. and Chokecherries aaaaahhhhh! Love chokecherry syrup on waffles. The trees are being destroyed by new homes in my area, but I do have a friend who gives me a few now and then.

Just let me know where to send the postcard.

Are you sure it isn't too much trouble??? You are a gem!
You'd think at 49 I knew everything about my mom by now- but alas this whole town and jelly story is news to me.
She still has her address file from her neighbors there! Isn't that crazy???
Back in 67 or so our home was destroyed in Hurricane Celia-in Corpus Christi Texas- I guess those Utah memories were something special cause somehow she has the file box. I'm going over to take a look at it tomorrow. She & My dad lived in Bountiful when I was born a year or so later.
Tks Vicki-Ill email you my address.

No trouble - might be kinda fun! Since your mom still has the address send that too and if the place is still there it might be fun to get a picture or two.

This weekend my mom called to tell me she THOUGHT the old address was 103 first street-
she was very unsure if it was really her address or someone elses - she was so happy with the postcard.
She was having a hard time deciding if she recognized the gas station but thought the house in the distance looked familiar!
Funny,huh?
She said there was only one gas station so it had to be the same one-she just couldnt put it in place in her memory.
Blessings for all the trouble- I know if you are working and driving a commute everyday there are other things you could have been doing - thanks so much!!!!

Autumn - so glad you liked the package. Yes, I made the syrup. Thank you for letting me be part of creating a happy memory for your mom. I know that I enjoy listening to my folks talk about their younger years. Oh yeah and thanks for not sending a hurricane!
