I am a country girl at heart but would love to learn more about farming. My boyfriend and I just purchased a small farmhouse (with honey bees in the walls) and a very neat red barn. Its 7+ acres in all and I am looking forward to refinishing it and becoming more of a farmgirl. I was raised in northern Ohio, am a legal secretary, do all the multimedia for our church and raise 2 wonderful kids. My kids are into music and play drums, piano, trumpet, french horn, handbells, guitar, and mellaphone. I do spend a great deal of time running my daughter to and fro to lessons, etc. But my passion is antiques, flowers and gardening and cooking (baking). Any suggestions and ideas are welcome with an open heart and mind.
Jackie I do answer better to Jack!

Greetings, Jack! My dh and I also had honeybees in the walls of our old farmhouse! What a weird thing to have in common!LOL! I hope your house is in better shape than ours. You can see photos of it under the thread 'A Farm of My Own'. Set the time search for 120 days and then go to the third page under Farmhouse Renovation/Restoration. Do you have any photos of your house adventure? I'd love to hear about your progress. :)

WElcome Jack!! I am so glad you found us..you are going to just love it here! Wow...bees in your walls! But does it smell wonderful like honey?? I live in a really old house too..no bees though. Your kids are sure musical!! I have 3 of the 4 I have still at home playing piano. One plays trumpet and one plays flute too. I am so happy that my kids are interested in music..I didn't grow up in a musical family at all! It will be fun to get to know you here!!

Thanks Janice I will be sure to look at your pics. I plan on taking lots of pictures and start a journal as we fix it up. Right now I think the barn is in better shape than the house. It will be fun and we will be making our own memories as we go. Any suggestions, please share!

Yes, definitely keep a journal. Our old barn(1913) is just about on the ground now. We had the opposite problem. And it is fun! And challenging and adventurous! You almost make me wish we could start again...notice I said almost! LOL! I'm sure we'll be comparing notes. ;)

Hi, Jack! Welcome to the forum. I, too, love antiques, gardening and baking. My mom is the musical one -- she plays the autoharp, dulicmer, tin whistle and the bahjrahn (sp?) which is a type of hand-held drum. So glad you joined us!
