Anyone here know where a person, like me could get a pair of ankle length pantaloons, or bloomers. You know to wear under skirts in the winter?

Tasha,
I would have to give it to a lady I know that can sew. I'm not that lady! How would you send the pattern? And Thankyou.

Nancy Jo,
Not sure of the type you are looking for but I got some called cuddle duds from JC Penney last year are they so warm. I got them because I wear dresses and skirts 24/7 and needed that up here in the north.
Hugs,

Well I size them a tad bigger than my size when I make them for me, but it's up to you as to what size you want them. The size on the pattern that I make for me is the large and they are big. I tend to make them out of muslin or I make them out of flannel for the cold months. I have a few floral patterns in flannel or you could send me what you would want them to be made of. I use a draw string for closure, as I find it easiest...

do you have a picture of the pattern you have? I am very interested in this.

I also wear skirts/dresses 24/7. And for winters, I knit my own knee-high socks to maintain warmth. My winter skirts are made of wool - and the are beautiful. And so far my socks match my skirts. But, I have been working on knitting some hoes/tights to wear on extemely cold days. We don't get ALOT of cold days here in southern MO, but enough to need them.
I sure am interested in the pantaloons.

I dont have any photos but I can tell you I used the pantaloons pattern from a mccalls prairie costume pattern. For summer I make them short and for cold months I make them long. a very easy pattern to alter if needed...

Tasha,
Do you have the pattern number? I think I may have that pattern. Have to go see if there are pantaloons with mine or if it's a different one.

Nancy, do you mean actual pantaloons, or just long underwear?

Some thing that will look cute under long skirts. So I'am thinking it would have a little trim just above the ankle. That would rule out actual long underwear.

Do you want them out of cotton, or a warm fabric like flannel? And do you want them straight leg, like the ones in the costume pattern or with elastic at the ankles, like bloomers? I'm asking because I had another lady in MT ask me if I would make her pantaloons and I'm wondering what the spectrum of design is.

I think I would like them to be cotton, straight legs, little eyelet or trim at the ankle. Light elastic at the waist, not bulky. For myself I would be wearing them mostly in the house. If I was going to be out in the cold then a warmer material would be nice. Those nice clothes we have been seeing, IS IT Nin's sister in England? I think she had on a pair in one of her pictures.
I just think it would be nice since so many of us like to wear long skirts sometimes if we could find a nice pattern that was practical and comfortable. Now if I could only sew I might be of some help here!
Maybe someone else has a different idea on what they should be like.
Lots of times at the thrift there are patterns, maybe I better be taking a closer look at what they are of,who knows, one of them might be bloomers, pantaloons, etc.

Nancy Jo,
What you are describing sounds like the cuddle duds from JC Penney that I posted about. They are cotton and have some lace at the ankle. Thay are not bulky at all but they are plenty warm. Thay have thin elastic at the top. kind of like undies do. I have two pair and am ordering more for this year. I need them for everyday and didn't want to have to wash them all the time. This way when some are in the wash I have some available to wear. Especially since I hang out my clothes and it can get mighty chilly out there.

That website you mentioned, http://malphi.typepad.com/ does have pantaloons as one of their kits, but it doesn't look like they're available yet.

I bought two pair (pink & white) at Target of all places! Soft cotton T-shirt knit with a drawstring waist. They were on clearance in the PJ area, $6. Couldn't believe my luck. Maybe you should take a peek there if you have a store near you.

I was honestly just thinking of taking a pattern for some pants and changing the pattern a bit to make the waist an elastic and shorten the pants (pantaloons) to whatever length you want and add on your lace or elastic on the bottom. definitely do-able.
