Hang in there (((Michele)))), it's scary at first but soon you'll be doing whatever needs to be done without a second thought! I'm so squemish that no one thought I'd ever be able to care for my hubby after he was severely injured and finally released from the hospital. The nurses showed me how to give him the daily care needed and though I was shaking at first and near tears I kept at it and within no time had it down to a regular routine. Hubby also snapped at me a few times while in the hospital too and I remember going off alone late one night to shed some tears. Hospitals are major stressers for many people and can bring out the worst in anyone. I know hubby didn't mean to hurt me but he was overwrought with frustration from not being in control of his own body and I was super sensitive due to lack of sleep along with overabundance of stress.
Tears and prayers often bring a much needed feeling of comfort and peace during times like these. We're all here for you and Ed, take comfort in knowing that you both are in our thoughts and prayers! ((((Hugs))))

give ed a big hug from all of us and save one for yourself!
he's very fortunate to have someone like you to care for him. all of us nurses have seen people with zero family or family that was too "busy" to care for them-you deserve much chocolate!!
all of that nursing stuff gets better with practice-you can do it!
and i agree with susan-i really like the picture of us surrounding you and ed in a big, hand-holding circle of love and support. count me in as one of the circle.
talk to you soon. karen
