Sorry for the late update but we arrived in Seattle a week ago Friday. Our trip went well, we had to drive through a huge Montana wildfire which I had never experienced before. The cats did great and have adjusted well to our new home. We have the majority of our boxes unpacked but still have boxes of books sitting around since we left all our bookshelves behind and have yet to find any we like. Anyone have any good bookcase plans they'd like to share?
Family back in MN seems to be adjusting well also. We've been calling and emailing- I've even had a chance to write one letter to my MIL although all the other letter writing I would like to do will have to wait until we are settled back into a routine of some sort.
It's very hard to keep on task with the house because we want to go and take in all the sites and sounds of everything. My husband is already planning out our gardens for Spring..yay!
Seattle is wonderful and I feel like I'm finally home.

Lydia, I'm so glad that you all arrived safe and sound. Especially having to drive through a wildfire! Bricks and boards for bookcases until you can get some. But since you're in Seattle take a trip to the IKEA store to get some great ones for not a lot of money. I'm so glad that you're enjoying Seattle. I just know that you're going to love it in the Pacific NW!

Glad you made it alright and in one piece. Moving is so stressfull! Ditto on the welcome and on Ikea! Just was there today, and they have some cute new lines that are more "country" than the modern they usually sell.
When my daughter and I get the Farm girls chapter going we'll let you know.
If you are a second hand lover, there is a HUGE Goodwill just outside down town Seattle.If you like Organis food, the infamous Pike Place (Farmer's) Market is all organic on Wednesdays. In fact my hubby used to work in Seattle so if you ever want a tour guide let me know. I am a stay at home Mom with no kids at home right now. |

Yes, there's a very nice Goodwill in Ballard... maybe there are others, but my daughter's taken me there and I enjoyed it. There's also a Value Village in Ballard, which is also good. There's farmers markets in Magnolia and in Fremont, which are neighboring communities. Welcome to the Northwest, Lydia!
