For a couple years, my friend Kathy has cut my kiddos hair using her Flo-bee. Finaly, I broke down and bought one myself and I love it! I've been cutting my boys hair ever since I bought it this summer, but last week I got brave and did my own too. I knew I wanted long fringy layers so I put on all the connectors (about 6 inches worth) and after lobbing my hair off to a managable lenth went to work "vacuuming my head".  I have the absolute cutiest haircut and it was FREE! The only thing that could make the cut better would be some shaggy edges and as soon as I find a beauty supply store I am going to buy a pair of texturing sissors like the salons use.

I always remember seeing those demonstrated at the county fair and wondering if they worked well...good to know that they do..how fun that you got to do YOUR hair too! I cut my boy's hair myself and have been known to screw up pretty badly. But then, sometimes it turns out nice. I think they answer is...don't make mom mad before she cuts your hair..haha
Libbie just got me a book on cutting kid's hair that I can't wait to go through. 11 year old son needs a haircut right now..his hair grows incredibly fast.
I will have to be on the lookout for a flo-bee!

I cut my husband's hair with clippers, but I did use the really short guard once. He heard me giggling and immediately knew I'd screwed up!
I cut my own hair by bending forward and brushing my hair foward, gathering it in a low ponytail by my chin. Then I cut straight across with regular scissors. Perfect, perfect layers every time! I have really curly hair, so trying to get a stylist to cut layers into it is a disaster.

| I cut hubby's hair with the clippers, but he wears it high & tight like a Marine & is somewhat (AHEM) follically challenged so it doesn't matter too much if I mess it up. One time I had him trim mine.. I said "Just do a straight line across the back" Needless to say, a week or so later, I was at my stylist who nearly had a heart attack when he saw the back of my hair. |

I learned the twist method years ago. You take a small section and twist it then cut it, when you release it makes layers. I just do small snips so I don't take off too much but it saves having that bowl cut look some kids end up with. When I went to a hairdress a couple of years ago she used the same method and I thought why am I spending $30.00 when this is what I do at home,lol.

I always cut my own bangs and do okay with that...I am rather nervous to cut the rest of my hair though. It is wavy and almost to my waist. I would like to cut it about shoulder length I think..for a change..but I am not very brave. I should try the bend over and make a low ponytail at my chin method. Don't know if I am brave enough...but I may do it. I hate the smell at the hairdresser so I avoid the place for years at a time.

Just try a few inches at first, Jenny. Then if you don't like it you still have enough hair to get the style you want.

yep. every hair on my head is 6 inches long...making perfect layers. i had it cut like this professionaly when i was in highschool and when my stylist moved i could never get anybody to do it right, until now. i've actualy mastered styling it a bit more, so i like it even better now. when i was in school i would use a 2 inch curling iron on it, but for now i'm just blow drying and teasing. i think the messy look is fun.
btw...should i cut down bangs? my forhead looks BIG.

very cute Corrine! See I always wanted to do this, but I have THICK and I mean THICK hair so it's hard to even curl or style let alone cut for myself! I want to do my mans cause he likes it SHORT and I do my dogs hair I can surely do his!

i wacked off 6 inches of pony tale before i even started with the flo-bee, but recently i am feeling very liberated and bold. i figgured that the worst thing i could do was mess it up and have to run down to the local salon to get it fixed...no big deal. it was fun!

Here it is with bangs. Since they are use to being parted down the middle, they don't lay right yet, but we'll get there. I like it much better this way.

Corrinne..I like the bangs on you too. I have a weird widows peak sort of deal going on in my bangs. I always have bangs but they are always a little wonky in the middle...so I never have perfectly straight across bangs..more like sorta parted in the middle a little bangs.

I cut my 2 boys and my daughters hair. My husband usually cuts his own. He usually has a military cut, so he can do his with a set of trimmers. Hubby also cuts mine. I asked him to the first time, and he about fainted. He does it with a forced smile, but I can hear his heart about to beat out of his chest. :-) I told him that I trusted him, and I love him, and it was just hair. After that he has continued to cut my hair. He does a great job. I trust him, and he loves me, so he tries to do the best job he can (with the shaking and all) :-)
