Here in Arkansas, we're hearing songbirds in the morning and frogs trilling at night, and the air just smells earthy. Spring is awakening again! What wild signs of spring are you seeing (hearing, smelling...) in your neck of the woods?

Wild things: Daffodils blooming, frogs, warm air (it was 70 here last week) and trees in bloom.
Human things: The earth being turned over - I love that!!

Hey Jen.... the moose are moving up the mountain here, the cows are splitting off from their calves and they're a little twitchy. One charged us back country skiing the other day. Nothing green yet, but I can see the road now! The sun is just going down, and it's 9:10 but I'm waking up to darkness yet. Gosh I'd love to hear a frog right now! jo

| here in texas spring means 80degrees one day,and 40 the next. The pastures turn green practically overnight,the birds are making their nest on our front porch,and baby animals everywhere! |

Daffodils!! And rain and wind storms! I think it finally got up to 70 degrees the other day, too! I can't wait until the tulips come up!

I'll agree with cowgirlmama... plus, in this part of Texas (Lubbock area), it's mesquite trees leafing out... chipping sparrows cleaning up spilled seed that the winter birds tossed out of the feeders... red fox kits under the house!!!..

Daffodils, forsythia in bloom, frogs trilling, lots of trees blooming especially fruit trees, mowing the grass already, most birds are back and singing happily, the temps are reaching the 70s now, and there's just the feel and smell of spring outside. I love the transitional seasons, probably fall first but spring is a close second.

I've had snowdrops blooming for several weeks, and the daffodils and daylilies are sending up shoots. We've still got a lot of snow on the ground in the shady spots. haven't heard any peepers, haven't seen any robins, but they have to show up soon!

We had a foot of snow yesterday, another foot coming. I guess that is a sign of spring here! I'm starting seeds in pots. No bulbs, gosh I can't even find the ground again! jo

Hi cowgirlmama... Shallowater is a small community northwest of Lubbock...
More signs of spring!!!.. my columbines are blooming & my trumpet vine is leafing out... & wouldn't you know it, another Texas spring thing, freezing temps tomorrow morning...

| oh yes-It was really miserable yesterday-the sun was shining,but the wind was really cold--I know you get worse cold weather than we do here in north texas----as jeff foxworthy says-you know you are a texan if you wear a parka and shorts together! |

Blackbirds arriving in the marsh
Phoebes nesting on my porch
Bluebirds are back in the nest boxes
Ducks (of all sorts) on the back pond
Trilliums and Trout Lily are blooming in the woods

| we have big chunky frogs on the porches every morning,and sometimes baby ones.I have no idea where they come from,because we live on the prairie/grasslands.There is a tank(large pond)about 1/2 mile away,but thats it.Sometimes they get in the house-what a hoot-fortunately Buster just stares at them.I have to say a Ridgeback is a good pup to have for not wanting to chase/eat everything he sees! |
