While the original idea was to produce the MaryJanesFarm Magazine without ads for as long as possible, I am really excited about the addition of the kinds of content-appropriate ads that will be in MJF in upcoming issues. MaryJane has complete and final say over who will purchase ads in her magazine. So, not only are the magazines going to be wonderful in their own right for their articles, pictures, ideas, and such, they are going to be guidebooks to trustworthy companies. (If you think about it, her past magazines were FULL of ads--free ads! She promoted another business or farmgirl on almost every page!) I feel that this change is going to get us voting with our pocketbooks on a whole new level!
Here are the companies who placed ads in the next issue. Girls, get to shopping! These are people who are supporting the farmgirl credo in a big way.
www.organicvalley.coop They purchased the inside front cover and back cover and a two-page spread inside (a feature about one of their dairy farmers).

Alee, Thanks for the info. If they are approved by Mary Jane, they are good for me. |

Every curtained window in my house has country curtains on them. They are a neat family.
Thanks for these company names! Oh, to be an Iowa farmgirl who does quilts! I am off to check that one out.

I"m a big organic valley fan. I work with some of the producers, and they're very committed to the co-op, so I trust they're doing good by the producers. Plus their new facility is green.

But I have to ask, why Dansko? I don't think there's anything particularly local, or green about their products.

Well, probably every single back issue of MaryJanesFarm had a Dansko presence or "ad." MaryJane has been selling their shoes on her website and in her magazine all along because Dansko sells shoes that are not only healthy for your feet (well made and a good fit) but they sell lots of Mary Jane type shoes! Adorable and wholesome. What kind of shoes do you wear? You should try Dansko.

I'm a big Clarks fan.....I have no idea if they're greener/more sustainable than Dansko. They have more variety, and last forever, and oh so comfy.
Earth shoes are American made, so I try to buy their sandals.

My mom has a pair of Danskos that she bought over three years ago that she loves. She says they're so comfy and they pretty much look just like they did when she bought them. Dansko also has some fun styles. I keep being tempted to splurge on a pair...lol
