We picked 13 1/2 lbs of those babies yesterday..so guess what I'll be doing today?? Bob Marley's "JAMMIN" comes to mind!! I got pics of the strawberries on the blog if ya wanna see!
We are hoping to go again in a few weeks to hunt more of the red jewels!

Happy strawberry hunting for where they are in season!

Holy cow! The snow only just melted off my strawberry patch! You're making my mouth water.

YEA! Thanks for the update!

Not sure what the berries are doin' here in NC

We have had lots of rain, so maybe next weekend or the weekend after I'll be swinging by and hopefully picking lots too.

I make jams to sell around Christmas time and the list is getting longer, so I usually pick 3-4 gallon pails worth until the berries are no more for the season. We have a chest freezer, so it can be filled to overflowing!

AND we have a vacuum sealer that make a huge difference in the way the berries look. Also helps on freezer space too

Yeah, Annab..I put up preserves..and then some to the freezer myself. I couldn't live without my freezer. Most of our veggie produce (cept tomato') goes in the freezer.
Ahh, but the 'jammin' is over for now..till the blackberries come out that is..(may and june), I put up 20 1/2 pnt jars..and several bags in the freezer from this one picking. We will probably go get more this weekend. I love looking at the 'jars' all lined up on the shelf!

Question for all you jammin' farmgirls out there :-) Is there a simple way for simpletons like me to approach the mysteries of making and canning blackberry preserves without going into debt on a lot of equipment I'll never be able to justify buying for the little bit I'd use it? I'd say I've got (after the birds have their first dibs) maybe a could of quarts of blackberries to deal with every year. Mostly, they go to seed.

I love making sauce out of my tomatoes and freezing it in ice cube trays and little bags. So handy.
