forgot to tell you gals..that I did get a job..a little part time something..to get out of the house a bit.. I had applied at the kmart garden shop..but decided afterwards that I'd rather try something else.. so..I wound up getting a job at our local Cookies by Design shop. I start on Monday afternoon at 2. Have not worked outside of the home in 18 yrs. but this should be a fun/easy way to ease back into things. Wish me luck. I'm excited about it. I'll be cashier/customer service/get to make cookie bouquets.close the store in the evenings and more..probably even bake and decorate on occasion. Anyhow..that's the latest news here. ----------------------------------------Well, my boss called last night when I was out doing errands with hubby, and she told daughter to tell me to call on Monday..I was "supposed" to go in today at 2 but she told daughter to have me just call on Monday..any how I went ahead and called this afternoon cause I knew something was up and really had a feeling she had hired me without really thinking about her financial/business situation. So...well I guess I'm doing the 'work for a day" experience...ha. The job didn't pan out..the lady admitted that her business is failing and she can't afford to hire anyone and is afraid that she'll be out knocking on doors herself soon. I told her that I had a feeling that was the case when we only had 3 customers in 2 1/2 hrs and the total sales were less than $30 and she was trying to have 3 employees/plus pay her overhead/plus pay the guy she bought the business from that to have that little amount of income coming in and trying to pay employees with nothing coming in wasn't going to be feasible..and she said yes..I should have looked at it better but I am in over my head right now basically and really struggling. And am afraid I may have to shut the doors soon here. She said that if the tide changes that of course she'd hire me again in a heartbeat cause she liked me and my attitude and all. So anyhow..that was that. I went around today to about 9 different stores getting applications. So..something should pan out. I'm a bit frustrated/bummed because I did want to work at the cookie shop..but such is life. And my last experience prior to this one was with a horrible lady/situation..and didn't pan out either..at least this gal was sweet about things but I wish she'd have been 100 percent honest with me before she tried hiring me..that she really couldn't afford to hire anyone right now.Sigh..anyhow..the search is on again.

you know..I figured that it would actually be a good way to face my "down fall" and conquer it. as of course sweets tend to be my own personal down fall on the weight gain..so I figured being faced with this nearly everyday I can wind up whupping it in the bum so to speak and overcoming this part of myself that I need to. No better way than to be surrounded by it day after day and overcome wanting any of it. I have no intentions what so ever of indulging my sweet tooth at all while there..or even if offered any to take home.Simply not interested in that aspect of the job or as some might say "perks" Perks equal pounds..and I am wanting to lose them not put them on. I simply want the opportunity to be able to work retail again.I actually want the job to be able to lose weight too. Funny huh? I actually secretly wanted this job before I even got it because I wanted to come face to face with something I have struggled with for a long time..my weight issues..and want to face it head on and whup it in the bum.

I'm nervous a wee bit of course..but looking forward to a change/the opportunity to have fun..18 yrs with being a stay at home mom and not working in public brings with it some jittery feelings to say the least. but..hey..I tell myself..I'm a big girl..and I can do this..ha.

Congratulations on finding the job. I have been retired for 7 years now--seems like just 7 weeks. Before I retired I had thought that I would get a part time job. But I found out that retirement is WORK!!!!! There has been plenty do (none of which pay much///). I have enjoyed every minute of it. I still haven't done all the things I thought I would do and had put off to do. I did throw away a bunch of magazines because most articles were outdated (I did clip craft pictures and recipes). I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to resist all those sweets. Good luck to you.

thank you all.. I will admit that the shop smells absolutely heavenly when you walk in the door and everything has a cute pink and burgundy-ish color(I guess that is the trademark/franchise colors) I have seen the back baking area..and oh my gosh..you'd be shocked at how many different varieties and the sheer numbers of cute cookie cutters there are that hang on the wall! And when you walk in the door there is an open shelf up against the back wall full of cookie bouquets all across the top edge of the store..cute cute! and so cheery.
