I'm looking for any chicken books or mags that have great info for getting started with a small backyard flock. If you have some let me know what you are in search of. I have lots of fabric and sewing notions. I also have some flower and veggy seeds I could share. Oh, I also have lots of old wooden clothes pins. Just let me know if you would like something else! TIA, Emily

Emily, I have a bunch of good books for "newbies". Let me take a look and I'll let you know what I have - you can pick one out. I don't need anything for it - just enjoy!

Emily and Julie, I have two books you might be interested in - maybe you could each choose one? ABC of Poultry Raising, a Complete Guide for the Beginner or Expert, by J.H. Florea and Chickens in Your Backyard, A Beginner's Guide by Rick and Gail Luttman. Once you decide, pls pm your mailing info.

What fun you are about to have!! I love my chickens. Today I got a book on raising goats!! My husband was like, "Oh, no! We aren't getting goats now are we?!"

Emily, I am so excited for you and your family! We, too, have decided to buy chicks which are called Astrolops and I have started an informative and informative blog you can check out if you like. I posted some information I have found and also bought a book at the local feed store to help raise the 25 we will have next month. The book has a lot more information than I posted on my blog and I would love to look up anything you would like to know!! How about those "Henny Penny Sister's!" Hugs, Pauline
