little 'tater' was waiting at the door when we got home this afternoon ... i had my 'toe doc' appointment .. he said it is healing well .. still on CIPRO though .. AND .. i go see my endocrinologist on friday .. so i'll let her have a peek-see to .. to see if she is pleased with the 'healing progress' ..
well .. back to TATER:
she was all sullen and said her skin is turning 'grey' cuz' she hasn't seen the sunlight in weeks now. soooooooo .. i took her by the hand and led her to the front porch and let her run wild!
RIGHT OFF .. she discovered the 'sweet taters' that i had just dropped to the ground .. waiting to find a little spot to plant them to see if they will continue to grow! i heard her mumblin' sumpthin' about PIE!
i turned my back for just a moment .. and took me fifteen minutes until i finally found her sitting in a window box with the 'basil' .. she had 'bout passed out from all the 'sniffing' she was doing! for the life of me .. i CANNOT figger out how she got up there all by herself!
we walked back hand in hand to the front porch .. where she spied the big olde crow that has been perched atop the rocking chair since the first day i moved to Freedom Valley Farm. they seemed to be whispering to each other .. but both quieted down when i walked closer. i did see him wink at her as i lifted her up to a new 'plant' we hung from the front porch
TATER told me she was thirsty and wouldn't mind some iced tea .. sooo .. we went back inside .. she settled in with a bunch of my wooden kitchen collectibles
while i was slicing some fresh lemons for our tea .. she nestled in among some zucchinni from the garden and asked if we might please make some zucchinni bread for supper
TATER is up for adoption .. jus' visit Sister Mercy's Foundlin' Home and e-mail me if you'd love for her to come live at hour house .. but .. a momma who loves GARDENS is preferred! xo
Little Tater .. being the oldest of the four Sugarbucket family tol' Sister Mercy the story of how they come to be orphans.
"All far and brimstone done hit our little holler down ta' Hazard, Kaintuckee way .. We'uns wuz all visitin' and playin' hop scotch and hoops .. and wif our li'l rag babies .. an. ah wuz about to set the milkin' stool table wif tee and mo-lasses cookies .. when thet unfotunate wind done winded down the valley and hit lak Kingdom had Come. I wuz the fust to see dem dark clouds and hear thet freight train roar thet comes alongside of the wind!
I done grabs the littlest cuzins whilst Sugar Pie, bein' the next in size .. grabbed up the dollies and tea pots .. and we hit lickey split down ta' the root cellar .. which shorely mos' pos'tively kept us from all bein' blown to Chiner or somewheres on t'other side of dis here earf!
All our po' pappies and mammies wuz out workin' in the t'baccy fields and we ain't none of us heered a word frum 'em since!"
It took quite a while to settle these precious little ones down .. but under the loving care of the Sisters at the Foundlin' Home .. they are startin' to get a little cheerier and back to life again. Sister Mercy promised them they'd all gather together again with all their kith and kin on a big 'ole front porch on t'other side of heaven with milk and honey for their tee!
And that for now .. they needed to keep each other's spirits up and live forward.
Tater has found some solace in the lovely tea sets and pretty china dishes that are set out on the big table at each meal. She has chosen her favorite cup and saucer with pretty flowers on it .. and Sister Mercy told her she could keep it forever. Tater is sarting to sing again .. and even ventures a little further from the orphan house with each passing week.
Sister Frances Catherine even found some pretty blue bows for her hair and makes sure to tell her happy stories at bedtime, tuck her in, give her a kiss on the forehead and promise her that a sweet momma will come along again to love her.
shirely jean .. CHILE .. i am indeed on CIPRIL .. (er sumpthin' like that) .. i SWEAR .. the first night i took it .. i had hallucinations all night .. nothing i can remember though). all my other 'hallucinations' are indeed daytime .. joy-induced ones!
