Hi everyone! I'm new to MaryJane's but am having a wonderful time here! I thought I'd invite you all to my blog to check out my animals and of course, my yarn! I'm fairly new at this, but have been having fun with some new "curly" Mohair from our Angora goats, and of course the tried and true Llama from "The Ladies"! Enjoy, and thanks for looking!

I love your yarn and I also think your smiling angora goat is precious! Do you ever sell your angora to other spinners? I have plenty of wool but would like to blend in some angora.

Hi Kate! I was all set to go and then found out that it is the ONE weekend that I cannot! We're taking our grandaughter to Mexico for her graduation present and have had reservations forever...:(! Will you be going???

Yes- I think I'll take a couple of days this time. I've taught myself how to spin, but know enough to be dangerous. I've been working with some alpaca fiber and have finally figured out how to put two plies into the wheel and get yarn- that was a great day! It seems like I want to do more than I have the time for. I've been working on making consistent batches of yarn, so that when I figure out what I'd like to do with it, it'll be there. I'd love to learn to felt, make dies and weave. My spinning wheel was given to me. It's an Ashford, but I also have a 4 harness loom (that was also given to me) that I'd love to learn how to use too. A little town next door to us, (Damascus) has the Damascus school of weaving- I'd love to take a class! This is all probably more than you want to know but all these interests stem from me being a sculptor and loving a variety of mediums. I just finished an MFA at PSU and during my first few terms I was basically a fiber artist without a fiber progam. Do you have any suggestions to help me flounder less? I was thinking it might be helpful to look for a group of people that get together and spin periodically near me.

Diana, Great to have you! I love your blog and your etsy store. I have 3 Angora's here 1 black and 2 white. My husband shears them as I am allergic to wool. We are going to get our fiber made into a rug since I can't spin. I just love their curls. glad you are here you will love it.

Love your blog and the gorgeous wools and wovens in your shop. I used to weave and also really loved sewing...primarily with wool. Your shop and MaryJane's Farm have me thinking of dragging my loom from the closet and dusting off my sewing machine.
Keep spinning Diana. Your yarns are so yummy.

....and welcome Sarita and Kate! I'm so excited to have other spinners here at MJF. Spinning definitely is enhanced by group spinning. If you can find a Guild to share and learn go for it. I drive over an hor twice a month to join the Guild ladies here in KY. There help has been invaluable to me.
Again welcome. Share some more of your yarn and experiences. I for one do want to know more....never enough fiber......

| Thank you all for your support! Kate, definitely find a spinning group in your area...with all the fiber up there, there's got to be one! I went to our local yarn stores and got involved in one that way. It's really a great way to learn new techniques and just share fiber with those of us who "lust" after it! I just had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful gal at our growers market. She had spun professionally for 8 yaears and has taught spinning for 20 years. She gave me two invaluable pieces of advice. One is to make sure that you take regular breaks while spinning...too much time in one position can hurt your back, elbows etc... and the other is that every fiber has it's own way in which it wants to be spun...don't try to force it to be something it isn't. Isn't that great?! Take care and happy fibering! Oh, and please let me know how the festival goes...maybe we can meet there next year?! Diana |

Diana, Your yarn is beautiful! I went to your blog and marked your etsy page as a favorite. I love the mohair locks! They look like they would be very nice to spin! The watermelon yarn does not look sticky next to the watermelon slice! My thought was: Oh my gosh, it's the exact same color as watermelon and it looks so soft you just want to reach out to touch it!!

I'm new to this, but I'm such a crafter, and I am sure it will be fun. I've had a spindle for a couple years now, but have never used it. I just had carpal tunnel surgery in both hands last month, so this should be good therapy.
I purchased some real pretty fiber from Diana and when I get it I'll post pictures here of my progress - wish me luck.
