If anyone who is experienced in handling chickens could help, I was told that my chickens were between 9 days and 2 weeks old when I bought them, however 4 days after they were able to fly out of their brood box. I've had them almost two weeks now, here's a photo taken today: One of them is noticeably smaller, the rest look pretty close in size.

I am pretty sure the one with the white chest that is starting straight forward is a cockerel, anyone else?

Here's a second shot of "him"

Thanks in advance for any help!! Warmly, Lara

Im no expert...I do work at a hatchery and showed these to my manager. Some chicks can fly at 2 weeks. Especially if they are a lighter breed. I have Andalusians and they were flying real early. If you need to clip their wings do it around 3-4 months. Simply spread the wing out like fan, and there will be 10 flying feathers...they are usually a different color. With sharp scissors cut them about 2/3 down. I've done both sides and I've done one side. When I did both wings they still flew, they just have to flap a little harder! When I did one, it was only for very short distances. Good luck! The pictures look like they are definately around 3-4 weeks...to me!

Also, I wouldnt give them any treats until they are done with the chick starter. Wait til they are 6-8 weeks to give them corn/veggies/bread. Thats what i tell my customers. It really can mess the digestive track up. Chickens dont have stomach acids to break down food, they have a gizzard and that houses tiny stones to grid up their food. Right now they are too young to properly grind up their food, hence, chick starter.
