Lillian, I agree with Cheryl. I lived in sw Ariz for 7 years. After seeing the bugs and reptiles there, I am no longer afraid of spiders!!!! I was stung on three different occasions by scorpions, in my own bed. You would have to look under the bath towels and the hand towels to make sure there weren't any scorpions there. The centipedes were DISGUSTING! They were huge and as big around as your arm, eewwwwww, creeps me out just thinking about them. The earth always smells sour, especially during the rains. TRUST US, don't move there. The only thing I miss about there is adobe buildings, fantastic Mexican food, fresh pistacios and pecans, and mesquite wood to bbq.

Geez Marcy - sounds like you got a plateful to deal with - thinking about you:) I went and rearranged the living room, computer room and sewing/dining room - it is working much better for me but I still have a little bit of decluttering to do. I'm feeling better about the house though, which means I can do some fun stuff. I've been re-reading the MJF aprons issue - there are some great words of wisdom in it, rationing myself though - clean a room, read an article. Rene - how cool are you? Lynn Coulter and Emilee Gettle!!

Happy birthday to Sue! Happy birthday to Sue! Happy birthday, dear Suuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeee! Happy birthday to Sue! And many more……………….!
TS, re: “Quitcherbellyaching, farmgirl up and DO IT!” That’s why we love you, girlfriend! You keep us plowin’ through and don’t let us get stuck in a ditch.
Dawnzo, re: “I'll be working on a christmas apron in summer!” Isn’t it great that MaryJane chose non-seasonal prints so you can wear it any time of the year? She’s just amazing that way. Re: signing up on Local Harvest – yay, you! And you are so not a cubicle girl. Would they let you work with the chickens instead of at the desk? Hands on seems more your style.
Annika, it made my week so see your post. Miss ya, chickie. I came across a quote the other day that was so us and gardening. My memory is like a sieve made out of chicken wire so when I come across it again, I’ll post it.
Hi, Corinne! Thanks for sending me the updated list. I remember receiving one with Julie on it but can’t find it now for the life of me.
Rene’, how cool of you to mention us to Emilee G. Wouldn’t THAT be amazing to have her as a maven? Robbie and I still haven’t made it there. I’m hoping next month………… Our ex-youth minister just got a preaching position about an hour or so from there so Robbie and I are planning on surprising them one Sunday morning and then heading to Bakers Creek.
Marcy, “seed bank!” That’s it! That’s the idea I’ve been trying to give a name to. Since I’m not the only one in charge of seed ordering at our house, we just went ahead and ordered. After Amy Grace’s post about her customer recommending ordering early, we didn’t want to take a chance. There was only one of ours, Cherokee Trail of Tears beans, that’s on backorder. (Did I post this already?) Anyways, it will probably be another day or two before I post my order. Too much other stuff on my plate at the moment.
Marcy (part 2), congrats on the blog! This post will take all my computer time today but I promise to check it out tomorrow. And I understand the Job thing – just keep your eyes focused on Him and remember the end of the story when it gets to feel like too much.
Amy Grace, Cheryl, Diana, Lillian, great to hear from you and the rest of y’all, miss ya!

Cheryl and TS- Thanks for your comments about Southern AZ, I copy and pasted them in an email to my DH. I am not a big snake (or scorpion) fan and have been spoiled by EXCELLENT water here. Hawaii is looking better and better despite the cost of living! Bet I would have a few Maven sisters visit me if I lived there! By the way Cheryl- how is the water down there?
Marcy- Hang in there. I'll be thinking about you and your family.

Happy Birthday, Sue!!! Hope it's a great one!!!
Dawn~Sorry to hear about your work woes.
Marcy~Sorry about the tough times. Too many things at once can really wear you down.
Boy, I have missed alot. It's been busy with school and finishing the orders for the owl hats. I had a million errands to run this afternoon and my son had his gym class. We just got home and now I have a whopper of a headache and don't feel like doing anything.
How exciting that Lynn Coultier is interested in us little mavens.
Rene~I would love a bookmark.

OOOH~Lillian what goodies did you get?
I know that there is so much more I wanted to add to this post. I am thinking of all of you. My brain is mush.
I am still waiting for my Baker's Creek Seed Catalog.:(
I have what I wanted picked out from SSE and am waiting to sit with hubby a few minutes to make it final and order.
I just picked up Cold Climate Gardening and an Organic Gardening book from the library. Can't wait to read them.

Amy, was it you that said you had some Botanical Interest seed? Let me know. I need to get to columbus and see what my 'secret place' has this spring. I like that brand.

Oh Lillian, Hawaii may not have snakes, but I know they have LOTS, AND LOTS, AND LOTS of bugs. My uncle was stationed there and they had to keep all foodstuffs in glass jars or the bugs were in them. Besides, you don't really want to live on a little bitty island out there all by youreself, do ya?

Rene', we WILL be going to Baker's Creek, it's just a matter of when. Wish it could be tomorrow because the weather will be wonderful (as in 60 bee-u-ti-ful degrees) here. But then the bottom drops out again. I'm hoping that we can go the first Sunday in February as they have the shindig (I forget what they call it) the first Sunday of every month. I was thinking how cool it would be if I would happen to see her there to talk MaryJane/maven things. You all wouldn't hear from me for quite awhile as I'd be floating on cloud 9 (maybe even cloud 10!).

TS- We were stationed in Hawaii for 3 years and yes there were bugs, but we loved the weather there. Our only drawback is the Island thing, being so far from family. Any whoo we will find the right place eventually.
Ruth- I got so many goodies! peppers, tomatos, corn, gourds, flowers, beans, herbs, chard, spinach and squash.
Everyone- I still have some seeds up for grabs, they are:
(Baker Creek) Purple of Sicily-cauliflower aprox 75 seeds (SSE) Tigers Eye-bean 8 seeds (Pinetree Garden) Vermont Cranberry-bean aprox 68 seeds
If you want some or all let me know.

Lilian.. Water? oh you mean to drink? You must have a water softener or at least an RO system. We could only drink bottled. A lot of Minerals in it and Nobody gets COLD water from the tap.. Even the toilet water is Warm .. does save on electricity though for heating water. Water heaters need to be replaced more often due to the residue build up also in pipes. We had to replace nearly every pipe in our home. Let's see what else can I tell you...Baseball training camps are there. Lots of snobirds live there in the winter months.. Weather is always warm & warmer. Airconditioning is a must and during the summer you need (mitts to drive steering wheel gets blistering hot in the car. depending on where you live Wind is a hazard. Lots of golf courses..( we lived on one) No mosquitoes! too hot for most bugs except scorpions they crawl into your shoes if left out in garage or anywhere really., Gotta be careful you don't slip into a pair without looking.. even in the closets where it is dark. I would definately go back to visist my sister but not to live..Do you need more information ?
