Thankyou Mavens for the birthday wishes. Thank you Marcy and Lillian for the birthday cards they were GREAT! Remember Tony the Tiger? LOL.
We went to a fight(or two or three, oh, heck I lost count, hahah) and a hocky game broke out. LOL Had a great time. Chiefs did a blood bath on them. I'm hoarse from yelling, hahaha. Good night.

TS, glad you had a great birthday. You deserve it, sista!
The newsletter has been posted. It didn't get the tender love care that it deserves this week due the ornery flu bug that invaded our house. There are some things I left out intentionally that weren't time critical but will be putting them in next weeks newsletter. And there were probably a few things I overlooked. So such as this is, this is the newsletter. If there are any big goofs, please let me know. I'm doing much better today but the longer I sit the stuffier I get so I'm outta here for awhile.
Happy last day of January!

Woo-hoo, got my first seeds. I ordered from SSE on Wednesday, my seeds came yesterday. Wow!! I am so excited, wish the snow was gone. Cheryl - was that interest expressed in being the book club coordinator? Ask Teresa Sue but I think she has been picking the books we will read then moderating the discussion. If you are interested, that is great - I could do the badge badgering:) I have been reading about France a lot in prep for the trip, when I get back I will switch to gardening books. I have Carrots love Tomatoes on the way, probably going to try to find Square Foot Gardening next. Other than that things are quiet on the home front. Had a family party to celebrate my Grandpa's 84th birthday yesterday, going with my folks to visit my other Grandma in Seattle today. She is 94 and getting tired. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday Amy Grace

Hello Mavens, hope everybody had a great week-end. Not much since I've emailed ya'll, we are doing great and yes, Amy Grace, they are new chances we get to meet in person next month. I have been waiting for this for a few months now. Have a great week, will be more talkative now. Tina, I am with you, moving is stressful in many ways, you will be okay very soon, adding my prayers to all the ones going your way. Cheryl and Amy Grace, congratulations on your new responsibilities with the Mavens. Corinne

Hi Mavens,
It is O-fficial, Amy Grace is now your MJ's Heirloom Badgebadger. I told her the mask is in the mail, LOL
Cheryl, I sent you an email- I never recieved your email to me. I coordinated the books we were reading in the bookclub with the books we needed for badges that were pertinent to the Mavens. I had choosen "CARROTS LOVE TOMATOES" for February's read, but now that's your decision! I was going to let the Mavens vote on what book they wanted next, but now that's your decision! LOL! Good luck, and rock on!

I will do my best, I amsure I will have questions about the discussion part... like, Do we discuss it on here any certain time? I have ordered the book "Carrots Love Tomatoes" So lets just go with that as you suggested for this month. Thanks for the information.

Hello mavens~~
It's been quiet here. I know it's been quite busy for all of us. Crazy day today. I had an orthodontist appt and it didn't go so well. He ended up taking off my top brackets and putting them on again. I feel like I am going to have these for the rest of my life. It's been two and half years and seems like forever.
Lanna~Cold Climate Gardening has so much information. It explains the challenges of gardening in the north. How to extend the season. Tips on how to grow your garden well. Placement, greenhouses, cold frames, compost. It even breaks down each kind of vegetable so you know when to plant it and what kinds are best for the north. There is a chapter on orchards, another on berries, nuts, grapes. So many things. It's a great book. I got mine from the library.

Good evening, mavens!
Congratulations, Amy Grace and Cheryl! You will both do a great job in your new mavenly roles.
If I wasn't so wiped out from running around doing errands today I'd post more. Not even sure I'll have the energy to chat. I was going to lay down for a little bit in the hopes I'd be rested enough to check in but I'm too pooped to move from my chair here. Chessie's laying on my arm right now (his usual spot) and would certainly make a good pillow.
I will be sharing more tomorrow on a couple of discoveries from today's trip. One is a special edition of Mother Earth News (MEN) on gardening. It has two articles on seed-saving. Can't give you more details right now as hubbie has the mag. The other is in the "WHAT????????" department. I stopped by Cracker Barrel on the off chance that they had the Lodge cast-iron bread pans (they don't). When I walked in the door there were some garden-y things in the display window. I went to check it out and they have a lot of decor items with old Burpee seed pictures on them. Well, ok, Burpee used to be a fine company. A lot of heirloom seed originated with Burpee. But imagine my shock when I saw a display of 12 different packages of heirloom(?) seed from................BURPEE! I bought a pack of the viola seed so that I can check it out. Some detective work is definitely needed here. Nothing like a Monsanto-owned company jumping on the heirloom bandwagon to really confuse the innocent.
Later, mavens, love y'all.

HI girls. I just want to say thank you for all of you that are so patient with me. I feel like I'm in 20 diff directions lately. So, do I owe you money? Have I forgot to send you and item? Did I not thank anyone for anything..... probably yes to all of the above. Please keep emailing me and nudging me along. Its almost 8:30, I just got home from work, I havent pee'd, I havent ate, I'm so tired that I'm weepy and we haven't even started hatching yet. This is just "pre-orders"..... as Tina would say... "oi". I'm tired, and I have to go check on my chickies. I brought home 2 "mystery hens" tonight and I need to make sure the other girls are playing nice. I will try to chat a little after I get something in my belly.
I hope that the "jobs" of badgebagder and book club keeper are taken care of. I know that whomever took those roles on will do wonderfully at them. This is what I love about being a maven, everyone steps up to the plate and then some when needed. You girls rock.
Off to the barn for me. And then, bed?
Any cures for nightmares out there? Been having doozies of dreams lately. Last night I hit Jerr so hard I bruised him...Thank goodness he understands these dream thingies. I cannot for the life of me remember what I was dreaming about to induce such an attack! My poor hunny.
Lora dear, I will double check the hatch date on your brown egg layer assortment and call you with a definitive date so that you and your dh can make arrangements to visit me again and pick them up!
Oh heavens, have I forgotten anything? Well, email me if I have.....
