I want to thank you all. I have been reading your posts for a little over a month and have learned so much.

I am in my mid-40's and live with my DH on 20 acres near beautiful lake Michigan.

I look forward to joining in on several of the topics.

Hi Julia and Linda, we have one small dog. Our land has a large pasture and woods. The pasture is idle now, but we enjoy watching the wild animals-deer, turkeys, rabbits, etc roam about. We have had domestic rabbits and chickens and I would like to again-well not the same kind of chickens-they were fighting chickens and the name says it all. My DH and I both work (we hope to change that soon) and it leaves little time for all the things we want to do. I love to garden and read and am trying to live simply and appreciate all the wonderful things around me-which is mostly land and trees and wild things.

It sure is a beautiful, chilly morning here in the south western part of MI. The sunrise on the trees-just beautiful. No snow yet and still mild.

Katie-ell, where does your sister live? I'm right on the far north border of Coloma. I grew up in Ohio and transplanted here in 1990 and was very lucky to find our land and our home. I am growing a bit tired of the winters though and want to move south to NC-just love it there.

Ellen in FL, I was wondering when I would hear from you. My sister is down there. Moved 2 years ago to Puerta Gunta-not sure if I have that spelled right-she loves it. She was tired of the Ohio winters-snow belt there too of Lake Erie-that's where I grew up.

Have a great day everyone-I best get to work now. Oh-I'm a Technical Writer and nope-not a yooper, but my Sis-In-Law is.

Welcome Ellen, glad to have you with us. I'm in SE Wisconsin, but my sister lives in Wyoming, Michigan; anywhere near you? She gets lots more snow on that side of the lake. She can have it! Jan

Hi Ellen:

I am orginally from Toledo, OH but now live in Boise, Idaho. We had a lovely fall this year with our leaf colors but it made me lonely for my own hometown. Hope you have had a nice fall too. Welcome to the list!

Jan, not sure where Wyoming, MI is-I'm pretty close to Kalamazoo if that helps.
Tania, we are having a beautiful fall-still a few leaves on the trees yet, but most on the ground. I've been to the Toledo zoo many times-so cool-especially the fishies. I go through Toledo every time I visit my family.

Hi Julia, glad to hear from ya. It is 20 acres (and my age is mid-40's). I do get to enjoy the neighbor's 20+ acres too. The thing I love most is that it is so serene.
Hi Ellen, it is Punta Gorda where my sis is. You got it Drew Careyville-Lake Erie. I write instruction manual for lab equipment. Haven't done any web stuff.
Have a great day everyone!

Ellen:

Have you been to the art museum in Toledo? If you haven't it is totally free and world class. I know what you mean about the zoo. It seems whenever I go home there are brand new exhibits. Pretty amazing to have something that neat there.

Hi Ellen -- My sister lives east of Coloma. In answer to where Wyoming MI is, it's just south of Grand Rapids. They can get lots of snow, too, but I think you're in that snowbelt nearer the bottom of the Lake. What I love about that whole area are the wonderful farmstands and fruit farms! I'm sure you can get wonderful apples for pies. . . . Hmm, maybe I need my sis to bring me apples when she next visits!

Tania, haven't been to the art museum in Toledo-that is good to know and a place to check out.
Katie-ell, I was east of Coloma this past weekend-following along Red Arrow. You are right-we have wonderful fruit and farms in this area-my 1 lonely peach tree was loaded-I made jelly and froze some pie filling trying to not let them go to waste. My apples weren't as nice-the worms got them before I did-I have just 2 trees. I did buy some nice ones that will turn into pies or applesauce if I stop eating them up so fast. So, Wyoming, MI is up there near GR-not too far away.
