Hello to All - I found this site searching for Maynard Arnett dolls and have found a fabulous group of "farmgirls" ... We're all just "girls" aren't we, no matter how old we are! I live just across the line from Memphis, TN; the fastest growing city in MS. I've watched this little town go from two-lane roads to seven-lane throughfares. It's amazing! We even have a new "outdoor shopping experience" what a trip! You can't get anywhere quick anymore. There's people everywhere! I'm biding my time for North Central AR, like Mountain Home, to make my final home. I want some land so I can have lots of raccoons, deer, rabbits and little skunks too. I love watching wildlife! No hunting allowed! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Terry

Welcome, Terry. I am so glad you found us. I know about your struggle with traffic and people. We live just minutes from Wolfchase Galleria. Do you have Mary Janes book? It is the best. It is a must-read for all farmgirls. You will love this group of gals. Hope to here lots more from you. Merry Christmas! Ivy

Welcome to the forum Terry! Look forward to chatting with you. I know exactly how you feel with all the "urban sprawl" these days....I think we all yearn for our own little peace of paradise!

Hello Terry! I live in North Central Arkansas between Searcy and Heber Springs. I love Mountain Home and Hot Springs areas. If you get your wish and move here we will have to meet! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Hi, Terry! I have a dear friend and client from Mountain Home. She moved there about ten years ago, and raises Friesian horses. Just ask, I'll bore you with pics!

I'm glad you found this board; it's one of the friendliest on the net, and full of helpful, caring people. Pull up a chair and grab a cup of coffee; I hope you enjoy your stay!

Hi Terry, Welcome. No, age doesn't matter, I'm neither a "girl" nor have a farm, but on here I'm a farmgirl! Yea! I haven't been around for the last few days with Christmas and all and wow! Santa has brought us a bunch of new friends. Glad you're one of them.

Terry .. i googled the maynard arnett doll ... have a great site for you to go to if you love this olde style black doll ... Verlene Brooks ... http://www.verlenebrooks.com/blackheritage1.html
It's early dawn and Jubilee waunders the docks, peddling her homemade crab cakes to the fishermen. One of a kind clay face, hand painted in every detail. She has soft wool hair and a black head wrap.

couldn't get the picture to show up here .. but visit her site and look at ALL of her wonderful dolls. xo, frannie

Welcome Terry, good luck on your search for a home. Kind of sad to see 'progress' gobble up so much rural area, but my wonderful hubby always says that everyone has a right to live somewhere; it just seems to be going so fast.
Glad to have you here, jenny

Hello to Everyone! Happy New Year! Thanks to all who have posted to me, both here and at the Maynard Arnett Dolls topic! I've been really busy with Christmas just like everyone else and just haven't had much time to post. I've read your responses & what a thrill to meet so many! The hopeful move to Arkansas is still a few years away but if that time passes like any other time, it'll get here fast.

My husband and I are cleaning up the Christmas decorations and getting the house back to normal today. I've got our New Year's dinner on the stove already; Turnip Greens, Black Eye Peas and Butter Beans for Glynn, he doesn't eat greens and there will be cornbread later just before dinner time to go with it. I cook enough for us, my Mom and good old left overs in the freezer.

Have a Happy & Healthy New Year! May God richly bless each of your lives!

Terry
