I have found that one person's little upsets could be found funny by others. Not the kind of upsets that are heart breaking just ones that make you want to scream and vent. I want to scream and make you laugh.. here it goes...
Today was the perfect day for a bath. The weather is bleak and dreary. The kids were in school. My husband was taking his nap, the inside animals are all curled up around him snoring away... it was just ME! Off to the bath I go. We only have one bathroom to share with six people in my house. So clean out all the used washrags out of the bath, the toys, the scrubbies... all bits of left over soap. Clean the tub. Put cup of water in the nuker for a cup of tea. Find reading glasses, grab Mary Jane's book, towel, throw another log in the wood stove...time to run the water!
Where is the stopper? UGH! Ok, look around the usual spots... nope. We have to put it in a washrag for it to fit in the odd size of drain...check laundry room. Must remember to put cat litter on the grocery list..soon! Clean up washer and dryer, remember to tell children that washer and dryer is not the place to deposit various items. Next check the walkway from bathroom to laundry room, get on knees to peer under everything...remember to vacuum under those things after a bath. Pick up paint set off dining room floor. Maybe it got dropped then someone, prob my hubby, picked it up and put it on the counter...ok clean off the counter. I wonder how long some of the items have been there. Perhaps I can request carbon dating...
Back to the living room, room is nice and toasty thanks to extra wood in stove, look under the couches, nope, look on living room table... not there either but did put the bills in the right folder.
Water is cold in the nuker but I'm not ready to give in. Ok let's look back in the bathroom... oh gross... why did I have boys? Check kids rooms... look in the five yr old's play doll tub.. didn't find stopper but did find cat food. Must remember to tell child not to put cat food in play tub... and her panties really don't make good carpet in the play house either.
The boys room yielded nothing good and the spare room is a mess. I really did spend some time this week cleaning my house but now I know I should probably clean it and forget the bath. The critters are still snoozing, the cup of water needs to be renooked... and I still can't find the stopper. My guess... it's long gone.
I think I'll just stuff a washrag in the tub, keep refilling it as it slowly looses water, and enjoy a cup of Earl Gray. I hope everyone has a great day...and never let anything stop you from relaxing!
Frustrated in Arkansas...

Made me smile!! I usually get side tracked in this manner and never get around to what it was I originally intended to do.
The idea of a stopper in your purse, isn't too bad!!

Thanks! I did finally get my bath...which has led to a new fixing project. My bathtub is an old five foot ceramic tub. It's pitted on the inside and stained a lovely color. And I noticed the stuff that you use to seal the cracks between the tub and shower wall has come out. I have tubes of that stuff and for the life of me I can't remember the name of it! So tomorrow I'll be in the tub with my Mega Mouse Sander with a scrubbing brush on it and then I'll seal the tub. I wonder if anyone knows how to get the pits out of ceramic tubs???? hmmm...
And I will be getting a stopper and keeping it in my purse! I love that idea!

Funny, Cynthia, loved it. I love to take baths in the middle of the day, when there is no one else home. Time just for me, a real rarity. It never fails tho, the phone rings, or some hunter comes to ask if he can hunt quail, or the cows get out, and are running up and down the county road. Such is life.
Greetings from the morning side of the hill. |

I have a bath every day -- hate showers! And my family knows that bath time is my time and if they knock on the door they could lose their life!
You story is just too funny. Sounds like a day in my life! Glad you finally got to relax.

Cynthia, you need a good soaker today with all you're going through with your grandmother. Just soak and cry.
Kay, I know what you mean about the bath being your time. When mine were smaller, I would steal away into the bathroom for a long hot bath. My kids had and still have strong separation anxiety...UGH!!! Anyway, many a time I was soaking and they would be bawling at the door that they wanted Mommy. I eventually got ear plugs to not hear them. I always wondered why my husband couldn't find something to do with them!!!
I think I'll go run a hot one tonight.
Blessings Catherine

Catherine I believe you are right. I will only be visiting my grandmother today as a granddaughter not as a caretaker... afterwards I believe I hear a long hot soak calling my name...ahhhhhhh!
I'm glad you found a way to take a bath and not give in to bawling children. I heard once that women do not take proper care of themselves. Not just physical health but also in emotional health. This person stated that if we did not take care of all aspects of our lives then our children would truly suffer. I know it's true in my house. When I'm out of sorts everyone including the dog stay away from me and no one is happy. |
