Hello Farmgirl Connection...I am so happy to be here! I found MaryJanesFarm magazine recently, and have simply fallen in love with the format and the information it contains!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Misty, and I live in a small rural community in South Carolina. I am a transplanted farm girl...meaning, I was born and raised on a farm, got bit by the big city bug, then decided after quite a few years to come back home, and settle down with the man of my dreams. Home is an old farmhouse, with drafty doors and windows, but a lot of love, fun and optimism about the future. My profession is in the medical field, but I am semi-retired now, and delving into new avenues of exploration.

I am starting a small greenhouse, and have decided on a few animals to begin this new adventure...just a few ducks, chicken and three goats, so far. Oh, and one very nutty Jack Russel Terrior named Katiedyd, who is the very highlight of hi-jincs, LOL! Three children ranging in age from 27 to 10, the youngest of which is homeschooled, and just slightly spoiled. I love the outdoors, and am an avid naturalist in most ways, though I must admit, I am still a bit wet behind the ears when it comes to true country living.

All in all, I am just happy to be making a new start, and am eagerly looking forward to the future, and the challenges it will bring my way. I hope to meet many of you through this avenue, and learn much from the accumilated wisdom of the ladies who are a part of this wonderful forum.

God bless, and hope to "talk" with you all soon!

Smile-oh yea, you will still get wrinkles, but at least they will be wrinkles worth seeing!

Thank you, prosserfarmgirl. Oh yes, KD is a wild one alright...wish I had her energy. I could pave the driveway one hour, and plant two acres of corn the next, LOL!

Welcome from Georgia, Misty. What kind of goats do you have? I love talking about my goats and am always interested in other people's goats, too. I have Lamancha and a Nubian cross. Waiting on kids at the moment. 2 more months to go now.

Glad to have you here. Enjoy.

Hey kristin! I have Alpines...they are quite the wild things as of yet...any tips to tame the wild beast within? I don't relish being a trained human all of my farmgirl life LOL!

Hey, Misty and welcome!
Sounds like you have a lot going on. My fondest memories are of the first "really old" farmhouse on 5 acres that I got initiated on as a fireman/farmers's wife..YES! Things have just sort of evolved over the years........ So alomost 40 years later guess you could say that I'll always stay a farmgirl at heart. Sounds like you are, too!

Thank you MaryJane and Shortie for the welcome! It is so nice to be here, and find others who share my love of the land and all things farmgirl! I am looking forward to checking out all of the blogs, and getting to know everyone better...

Since I am quite new to forums and the like in general, I am still trying to figure out how this all works, (she types as she scatches her head in consternation, LOL), so please bear with me as I get my bearings, won't you?

Again, many thanks for the welcome to all the Farmgirls out there!
Blessings everybody!

Hi, Misty. Nice to meet you. Your description of your dog sounds like my boss. He has two Jack Russells and they run him ragged! LOL! He thinks of himself as in good shape, but he just can't keep up with those dogs! LOL!

Thank you so much to all the ladies who dropped in to welcome me! I am already gleaning so much knowledge, and every day, look forward in sincere anticpation to the posts. I love the comraderie and sharing I am discovering here, and each lady seems to have a special and unique way of expressing herself. It is indeed a great group, country lawyer!
Cindy, you will be suprised to learn I live only a few miles from Sumter as the crow flies, and yes, it is such lovely country, though I suppose I am just slightly predjudiced on that subject, LOL! And that is one of my favorite verses, along with, "But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness to his children's children." Psalm 103:17
Miss Bee, if anyone had told me that my life would literally go to the dogs, I might have run, but too late now, cause Katiedyd has us all wrapped around her little over-active paws, not to mention those choclate brown eyes...although most of what I see of her is more on the other end of her anatomy, as she goes flying along!
Lainey, I look forward to getting to know you too, and I do believe that there is indeed, much kindness in this group. I have been made to feel wonderfully welcome, and truly appreciate it so much.
