Hello everyone! I have no idea how to post to a forum so please bear with me if I get this wrong. Let me throw in a smile to set things on the right path.. My name is Lorraine and I live in SE PA. I'm eager to jump in with both feet to learn and share. Any basics tips would be great. Such as-what are the stars by user names, how do I know what farm girl number I am? Really, I have the training wheels on-hope to make some great cyber friends.

HI Lorraine! Welcome to MaryJanes! I am just thrilled to have you join us. We do so have a blast! :)
Let's see. You have some great questions. The stars by our names correlate with our number of posts. The more you post the more stars you get and the different title you will have. Like since this is your first post, you are a farmgirl at heart.

Your little orange hexagon shows us that you are a registered farmgirl. That means that you have officially joined the sisterhood and will be getting or have gotten your welcome packet with your patch and sisterhood certificate. You will find your farmgirl number on the certificate. :)

Training wheels are great!! We've all had them..hehe
Looking forward to getting to know you better!
hugs

Oh, soooo cool...thanks for saying hi! Yehaw! Yes, I did sign up 2 nights ago so I guess my certificate is in the mail. I have been checking out some of the forums such as square foot gardening-which I do in my little slice of suburban heaven. I even flew home (Illinois) last May to set up a SFG in my Mom's backyard. My brothers came over and we knocked it out with plants in 2 days. My carry one luggage had my overalls, garden gloves and clean undies for the weekend. It was a blast gardening with my brothers. It had been 2 years since I had been home to visit. Just a bit more about me-I have two teenagers, a hubby of 20 yrs. in Nov., two dogs and a rabbit-which is now in the computer room since his outdoor hutch collapsed on Saturday. I'm kinda a girlie girl, but am the hardware manager at a big box store so I get to work around all these cool widgits and thing-er-mer-bobs. Thanks again for the welcome!!

Welcome Lorraine, as you can see already everyone here is very helpful and so sweet. Don't ever be afraid to ask a question. I'm looking forward to getting to know you. I used to travel through your general part of the country when I lived in IL and would go visit the folks in CT.

Hey Lorraine,

Welcome to the farm! I'm rather partial to your name-it's my sister's name too! I live about 45 minutes away from you in NW Maryland and my hubby and I (sometimes me by myself) come up to your neck of the woods quite frequently. We love it in PA and would love to relocate there someday. Hubby works in D.C. so moving farther away isn't an option right now. It seems like you really have jumped in with both feet. You'll have a blast. This is a great place to get to know kindred spirits and everyone has/is kind, supportive, and extremely helpful. Look forward to getting to know you!

Hello Bonnie-My hubby drives to Beltesville for work. Several people here drive to Baltimore or DC for work. I can walk to work if I get a wild hair or feel like a little exercise. Can you belive the weather we have had this week? Just the best! Today I put down some mulch, set up a new compost bin, planted 72 tulip bulbs (hope they come up-they were last years) pruned and fertilized my roses and planted 18 strawberry plant. I hope that I wasn't too eager with the strawberries since zone 6 is suppose to wait until mid-April. Thanks for the welcome. Keep in touch-I rarely drive across the border to Maryland-however if you would like to meet for coffee the next time you are in Hanover-just let me know. Would love to meet you.
