I finally found my tow-behind! It's a 1970 Tag A Long in great condition structurally, but in need of complete overhaul inside. Just what I was looking for, because the price was what I could afford!
She's on her way home in the next day or so. I needed to ask for help getting her here because I still need a hitch on my Blazer. Then I can begin work on the interior....and post some photos to share!
Anyone have any experience covering walls with fabric?? That's what I'd like to do inside. I was thinking that maybe paint and then spread the fabric over it while it was wet and perhaps some trim around the edges to hold it in place and make it look neat.
Anyone have any ideas?

I saw a decorating show that applied fabric to smooth walls using starch. Basically clean the wall, dip fabric cut to length into starch, smooth on wall, trim edges with craft knife. What's nice about this method is that it can be peeled off fairly easily. JoAnn |

Same here We put burlap on a wall in an apartment with just wall paper paste we did how ever wash it all so it would not shrink on the walls.

I have stapled fabric ( burlap) on interior walls. I am going to do that to the interior of my chicken studio..A local coffee roaster has given me some burlap coffee bags, & is saving me others.

Carrie- I am so totally jealous about the tow behind. I have been looking also. Called on one that looked perfect and he had just sold it. Wish me luck that I can find one I can afford and fix up. Have fun.

Hear are some pic's! It finally came home on Friday night--waited ALL week for it! But it is in the front drive and leveled now, so I can get cleaning as soon as it warms up a bit. I've measured all windows and am planning my curtains. I'm also making a special quilt to keep in it!
Here is the outside:

Here are some "pre fix-it-up inside photos!

I like the ideas about fabric on the walls, but I DON'T want it to peel off easily as I'd like it to look good for a long time and under weather (it will sit most of the winter, I am sure!). So I don't want it to peel before I'm ready for a change. I guess I will try some different options and see what will be good. I could just paint, but I was hoping for something a little different.
I really dislike paneling but most of it is in decent enough condition to just paint. I assume the outside will be easy to paint because aluminum siding is paintable.
I'm SO eager for spring now!

PS Gail--Luck, luck, luck to you! I hope you get one. I started shopping last summer and feel so fortunate to have found this one just 15 minutes from my house. I've noticed them in so many yards...perhaps you could knock on some doors????

I've been on the look out for one of these for quite some time to take to the festival I attend in the summer. It's a 9 day festival and is total "glamping" so a tow behind is a perfect fit and perfect for our little family! Great find and have fun re-furbishing it!! Such a great project!!

I have a small motorhome, buy my girlfriend wants a small camper she can pull behind her Honda Pilot. We will take turns taking our rigs to the local park campouts. Its great for baking goodies and brewing coffee. Also, great for a little nap without the whole area seeing us full sized (super sized) women napping. We dont want to scare the children at the park, what a site to see! We both have retired husbands and we like to get out of the house for our knitting, etc. This sisterhood has really filled me up with life after retirement. Love to go back to the old ways.
Be good to yourself and be good to this earth.

Judy-
Sounds like fun...and so nice to have a friend to go with! I am enjoying the sisterhood, too, and find it to be a great uplifter as my children are leaving home....only three of five left.
I am looking forward to rustic camping by myself, which I won't do in a tent 'cause I'm chicken! But the trailer will offer me some sense of security and allow me to park almost anywhere remote and still be able to cook and stay dry. I'm making a quilt to put in it to keep me warm....soooooo excited! Now if I could just get her cleaned up! I found a leak in the roof and am waiting for it to quit raining so I can fix that. It's quite wet inside :(
Enjoy your camplife!! Carrie

I have been hard at work with the weather being nicer now...she's all cleaned out...took out everything that wasn't nailed down, primed the walls and closet, painted the ceiling this morning...
I need to cushion the table seats and make a new bed for the back. I also had to patch a leak in the roof which was a nuisance. All dry inside now! Decided to just paint the walls. Once all is painted I will post more photos. I'm leaving out the extra bed since it is really meant for just me or maybe a guest now and then like hubby or my girls or a mom and son fishing trip. I don't expect that we'll ALL try to sleep in it at the same time! But it will be fine if we need to!
I'm sooooooo excited. I have my husband on the scout for new tires because I keep telling him that this thing IS going to IDAHO some day....maybe next summer for the Farm Fair Event!!
This year I will give in to just flying out and then I'll be ready for a real trip out there to really take it all in a stay awhile!
Till later- Carrie m

Grace-
My theme will be "Log Cabin" since I have decided to paint the outside to look like a log cabin...we'll see if I can pull that off! So...I'm doing an Adirondack living feel on the inside. I'm making a quilt and have fabric for curtains that will pull in some pink, but the colors will be earthy and natural for the most part. The walls will be antique since I have that left over from my household bathroom.
It takes soooooo much time...each step requires effort and patience. I'm loving the work but admit that I CANNOT wait to sleep in it!!!! I step in each day just for a smell (now that it's clean!) and to dream about being "out there" in it! I'm sure I'll end up sleeping in it right in the driveway before too long. We're actually getting summer weather here in NY this weekend. Makes the desire even stronger!!
Blessings....
Carrie

that is soooo kool! I so agree with you, the first night that you camp out in her will be so awesome! I can hardly wait for hubby to finish the wood work on my Gracie'sVictorianRose so i can take her on her maiden voyage... but for now, I need to get busy working on her baby sister, a 1963 Serro Scotty. Have fun & keep us posted on your progress...and remember..."Show No Fear!"
