Hey,my name is Pam, and I live on a one acre mini farm in Kingsport TN. I started reading MaryJane's book and magazines a few years ago, and I love her approach to life. A few months ago, I started a Farmgirl Chapter with a few friends and one of my daughters. We named ourselves the Hippiehens....guess that gives my age away! I love to quilt, bake, and spend time with my 6 grandkids. I have 12 chickens, 9 cats, and 2 dogs...oh, and 1 husband who is a wonderful pastel artist. This forum has been so filled with useful information! I just made my own laundry detergent! Woo hoo! Thanks for all of your inspiration. You farmgirls are so sweet and helpful!

Hi Pamela from a fellow hippie chick! I have 5 grandkids now. Wow. That sounds wierd to say that.
There have been several Tn. farmgirls joining lately. I am practically in Tn. Right below Chatt. I go there at least a few times a week. Anyway, nice to meet you and glad you're here. Jump right on in.
Kris

Hey, Pam! And welcome! Love the name Hippiehens! That is just so cute! I know that you will have a great time meeting other farmgirls and learning new things here. Hope that the laundry soap works out well for ya. I find that I am contemplating doing all kinds of new-to-me things since I have been here. I actually cooked over an open fire! And not just hot dogs! HA!
This is a great place and everyone is so friendly and helpful! Glad to have you aboard!

A big hug from one of the Louisiana farm girls! Welcome, Pam. Sounds like we're gonna love you as much as you'll love us! I fall just a few years short of being a true hippie, but I did get called one the other day, just because I prefer to live on a farm and have a goal of being self-sustaining! If that's what being a hippie means, then, I'm all for it!!!!

Thanks for the great responses. I don't know if I am a true hippie either, but I have lived in a remote woodland in New Hampshire, where we heated with wood, grew our own veggies, I baked our bread and sewed and quilted. I love nature and try to live simply. I have a question. Where do I post what our little farmgirl chapter is doing for activities? We are having so much fun! I have always loved domestic crafts, and now I am teaching another generation, and they love it too. Let the circle be unbroken.....
