Hi Farmgirls!!!

I grew up in Kansas on a wheat, cattle and hog farm. I learned how to plow and disc a field, sew clothes, bake, cook and be crafty. I didn't however, learn how to grow food and survive on the land!!! So I am happy to say that I am in my second year of learning how to grow food and I will be learning how to preserve it for the first time this summer!

I have a blog about my day to day homesteading adventures called Playing in the Sonshine. You can check it out here:

I am excited to meet more farmgirls!

Hi April, I am new here and a Kansas Farmgirl who grew up on a huge working ranch in Missouri. I was lucky to learn about gardening early on and now practice square foot gardening on our small 3/4 acre yard. My beds look just like yours on your blog! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who documents everything. I want to get laying hens this year but we have a coyote problem so I'm not sure how successful that would be. We also lease 80 acres for our horses and that's where my true passion lies. I've thought of getting an alpaca since I enjoy spinning their fabulous wool but so far hubby has been resistent to that idea. I need to work on him.
