Good Morning My name is Shirley and I just joined. I came across my first magazine and loved it..sooo I ordered the back issues, subscribed for a year and purchased the big book, some nickers, biscuit mix and budget mix..I just love everything! I am from Quebec Canada but am visiting my fiance in Kentucky. I am in the process of getting my papers to move here permanently. We live in the country where my fiance farms his mothers 80 acre farm. Our property is less than an acre but joins her acreage where we have plowed out a garden and planted potatoes and corn so far. I have started riding lessons and will be getting myself a horse once I am here permantly. We also have a small coup with a few chickens already. I love country life.. always have..in Quebec I had a small home with an acre with a few chickens and raised my only son alone for 18 years. He is now in college..I am definitely a farmgirl at heart, always have been and I am happy to have come across Mary Jane Farmgirl magazine and now the website. Have a great day everyone !

Welcome Flower!!! You are going to love it here!! Everyone is so wonderful and very supportive. The swaps are so much fun and for me, I love the Barter section too.
I live in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire, just 10 minutes from the Canadian border. My BF and I have 50 acres, a small log home and I am getting my big garden started this year. Having my very own farm stand is a dream coming true for me!! I too am a true farm girl in every sense!
So, Welcome!! I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know you!!

| Have a great time with these farmgirls, Shirley! And, hope you like Kentucky. If you get to Paducka check out the National Quilt Museum. We spent our honeymoon tent camping in Quebec many moons ago. We were even through Hull. Welcome! |

Thank you for the warm welcome... I will be heading back to Canada at the end of this month to spend the summer with my son and finalize paper work. We will probably take a road trip to New Brunswick and PEI, my son wants to learn to drive so he can get his licence this year. Now I am going to browse this site to learn more about everything..I would be interested in the chapter and sisterhood once I am permanently installed here in Kentucky. Shirley

Welcome, Shirley! Nice to see another farmgirl from the Great White North! I live in a little town called Brechin, on the east side of Lake Simcoe.
You'll love this forum. The gals are wonderful, and don't be shy about asking anything!

Hi Shirley and welcome to the forum! My husband is Canadian and I "imported" him from Vancouver Island, BC. He's been here 5 yrs already. We met 10 yrs ago online and went through the immigration process too. It's a long road but is worth it. How wonderful your farm sounds and I bet you can't wait to get to be with your fiance permanently, get married and start your life together. Stay strong together as immigration can be difficult at times. The happiness you will have together will make it all worthwhile.

Hello ... Well I finally moved here to Kentucky permanently and got married in January. I am in the process of adjusment of status. It has been a long challenging journey. I am finally starting to settle into my new life. I also decided to start a farmgirls chapter in hopes of meeting others who love country living or have a farmgirl heart. Farmgirl chapter is in Kentucky and I named it "Smiling Country Hens"
