Hello Everyone!
I just joined up and am really pleased to be a part of this,I love Mary Jane's Farm and and look forward to meeting all the farmgirls here!
I'm twenty-nine years old and live in Southern Colorado with my Husband and nine year old Daughter Raven (a tough little farmgirl),we currently live in the city but now that my Husband is out of the Army (twelve years and two deployments) we're looking forward to getting our house sold and moving to the country.
I grew up on a small cattle and horse breeding operation and start a few colts for people for my extra "egg money",this allows me to do what I love and have time at home as well.
We currently own four horses (boarded)I ride Western,Classical Dressage and jumping and I'm able to keep a small flock of chickens and a small rabbitry in our large backyard as well as grow a large garden but I'm looking forward to having my horses and my dream herd of goats right out my back door someday.
I like to quilt and I sew deerskin Native American clothing, study herbalism, organic gardening and sustainable agriculture, soapmaking, home dairying,etc...if it's a country skill,I either can do it or want to learn it!!!
Well, that's enough about me,I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone else here!

Welcome Kathryn!!!

We are sort of neighbors :)

Wow, it sounds like you have so many wonderful things going on. I am hoping to learn soapmaking this year. We don't have any animals yet but am looking forward to the day when we can. I'm glad you found us. There are so many wonderful gals on board and I have gleaned a wealth of information from them :)

Kathryn,
Welcome, welcome, welcome! We love that you are here. My name is Rene and most folks here know me either as "prosserfarmgirl" as I live in Prosser, WA. or as the "sisterhood coordinator" for MaryJanesfarm (which is sounds like you would Love the badge program) So here is that link.http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/farmgirl-sisterhood/ or by the blog title RuralFarmgirl http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/RFBlog/ in true farmgirl fashion I wear a lot of different hats all that seems to fit my quirky personality.

I adore your line "Todays Oak was yesterdays nut".... ha-ha could be my theme! I look forward to getting to know you better..... but for now! Welcome, pull up a chair and post away!

Welcome Kathryn! I wish you lived closer to me! I have a filly that I need started! It would have been nice to have a fellow farmgirl work with me with her! I am hoping the lady I will be boarding with will give me a good rate.

You sound like you have lots of knowledge and skills! How fun! I bet you are always busy or always thinking of another project! Maybe someday we will have to get together! I have family in Laramie WY, Cheyenne WY and Denver so I get down in that area about once or twice a year. I'll let you know when I think I might be coming closer your way and perhaps you would like to get together!

Hi Kathryn. Welcome. I'll be in CS in July for our family reunion. My brother and sister both live there.

SOunds like you have a busy life there. I just started a baby quilt for my neice (who also lives in the Springs) and will take it to her when I go. Right now my middle finger is hurting and I'm only halfway done with it. But it's so cute.

I hope you enjoy your time here.

Kris

It's so nice to meet you all,I'm really enjoying the forum and exploring all the message boards,I've already got a trade set up on the barter board and everyone has been great!
I would sure love to meet any of you in person so if you should get by this way, please let me know and we'll meet up!
I wish I was closer to you Alee,I would sure love to start your filly with you,I love to train horses and get them gentle without bronc-stomping them and I like to work real closely with the rider to help them develop a language with thier horse, that is the most important part in relating to horses,it's all about the language we use with them, keep me posted on how your little filly is coming along!
Thanks for the warm welcome Rene,I will check out the badge program,I'm still kind of in the mosey stage, exploring all this site has to offer, thanks again,it's been lovely being here!
