Hi everyone...The first issue of Mary Jane's magazine that I got a hold of was the Bee issue back in January I believe. I was hooked immediately. I've been on the website quite a few times, just now getting around to posting. I've got my sourdough starter going and have read almost all the posts in that thread. Lots of really neat ladies here. Anyway, we live on 25 acres with 3 dogs, 3 guineas, 28 goats that are mostly expecting, and 5 cows with calves! Thinking about getting some chickens...I have a garden that is steadily burning up in the 100+ degree days we've been having! I believe there are a lot of things that I can learn here.... |

Hi Cyndy Welcome, what part of TX are you in? I am up in Athens, by Canton. Sharlet is west of me and Kelly is east. Hope we are kind of close. Smiles, Melody June

| Hi Melody and thanks for the welcome! Unfortunately I'm probably 4-5 hours away from you. I live in Brady the geographical center of texas. :-) Which means out in the middle of nowhere! lol I am familiar with your area...I have an aunt that lives in Golden. Not too far from you. In my genealogy, my family is from your area...they lived in Malakoff and Alba that I know of for sure. I myself lived in the Sulphur Springs area for awhile...my husbands family still lives there, so we go that way pretty often. Now you know my life history! LOl Very cool to meet you....we have a connection! |

Morning Cyndy and welcome. I'm from TX but live in PA now. Oh how I miss it. It's funny how I seem to search out other Texans where ever I live.
This is a great place so I'm glad you're here.

Hi Cyndy, I guess I missed your post earlier. Like Melody said I live on the west side of Corsicana. I wish you were closer, but I might get in your area one day and we could visit. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
Annabel , wish you were still here. There nothing like a good ole Texas get together.

Hi Cyndy and welcome! I'm also a new Texas 'farmgirl' after picking up the same MaryJane magazine with the bees. My daughter participates in 4H and is getting 2 goats this weekend. So now we'll have a steer & 2 goats to keep us busy this school year! FUN, FUN! |

Hi Maggie and thanks! Down here I guess we raise what you call meat goats. Basically, with the babies we just raise em, fatten em up and sell em! There are a lot of goats in this country, when you are out driving, you'll see cows in the pasture but you'll also see lots of goats out grazing! Every Labor Day weekend we have the World Championship Barbecue Goat Cook-off. It's a pretty big thing in this area! THis is my first time to have livestock...I'm afraid I'll get attached! We already have a pet!LOL |
