Hi everyone!
I am new hew here and from Ohio too! I am located in north central Ohio near the Mansfield area. I live with my husband and critters on our "hobby farm". We found our dream spot and moved here about 4 years ago. I LOVE farm life and feel like I have come home at last. I am looking forward to exploring on this site and getting to know some of you. There are so many different forums it is kind of hard to know where to begin!

Welcome, Mary Ann!
I'm also in Ohio, outside of Greenwich--north of Mansfield! Would love to have you join me in some Farmgirl fun one day soon, perhaps even join our chapter!

These farmgirl friends and these forums are a wealth of invaluable info!

I see you are "fiberfarmgirl"....whay sorts of critters do you have, and tell me more about your fibers! Do you spin, hook, weave, etc?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. To answer RubyJunes, my fiber animals are sheep and llamas. I have registered Olde English Southdown Babydoll sheep, and some various mixed breeds/rescue sheep. The llamas are guards for the sheep but provide amazing fiber as well. I am a spinner and a knitter so I find lots of uses for the fibers we raise. I also have a flock of laying hens that I started as day-old chicks this spring. I am drowning in eggs so maybe my next stop will be the recipe forum to find some more uses for the eggs my girls generously provide!
How do I find out more about the chapters?

Wow, what a neat sounding bunch of animals you have, Mary Ann! I think spinning and knitting is so intriguing, though it is something I don't know how to do. And chickens, too, very cool.

Here you can read more about joining the Farmgirl Sisterhood...I've been working on earning some of the merit badges, and it's always more fun to do it with a fellow farmgirl!

And this link should bring you to a place to search for a Farmgirl Chapter in your area...the one I am in is in Greenwich, Ohio, yet to be named.

I'm off to set up for another craft show...have a great weekend!

Hi, welcome! You will find lots of like-minded people here. I am in your neighborhood now, but moving soon to Michigan, so sorry, it sounds like we have lots of interests in common. We plan on moving back here in 4-6 years when we retire. I currently live in Lexington. I used to be a member of Malabar Farm Spinning and Weaving guild but right now my life is so crazy just don't have time for the meetings.

I just picked up a couple of fleeces I found "for FREE" on craigslist and am taking them to Zeilingers this W/E to see if they are worth processing.

You will love MJF and find a lot of useful information here, as well as friendship and inspiration. Welcome aboard!

A warm Louisiana welcome, Mary Ann! I'm a weaver, and am currently on the hunt for a wheel. If I can learn to spin, and spin well, my next step is Pygora goats. I'd love to have sheep, but dh is opposed to that idea. Oh, well. He was also against the goats, but I've finally gotten him to see it my way. Maybe I can work on the sheep later! I'm going to love hearing more about you -- I'm really glad you joined us!

from the hearts of paradise...
