Hello, I am from Vermont..........raised on a dairy farm.....my father at 80 is still going everyday to work along with my oldest brother who is now running the farm. My family lives in the woods a couple of towns away. We have raised goats and a pig in hopes of ridding our property of poison ivy.........we have lots. We also have a big vegetable garden every year.
I signed up to get involved in a couple of VT MaryJane groups and have not heard a thing. It has been a couple of weeks now. How does this work? I was hoping to get an e-mail from one of them, preferebly the closer one. Your help would be great. Thanks, Noreen

Hey Noreen! FORMER vermonter here! Grew up in Quechee but now live in Arkansas. I have only come across a few (less than 5) farmgirls from vermont that post regularly on the forum in the three years I have been here. Unfortunatly I think a lot of people "lurk" here but dont actually type on the forum. I would suggest that you start your own chapter. The girls at the farm will send you a nice packet of info and you can hang up some posters in the local feed stores, coops and country stores. I'm sure there will be a lot of interest but I know when I was in vermont there was always something to be done that didn't involve getting on the internet! Dont get discouraged. there are only three active people on the forum from Arkansas so I started my own group here. 95% of the girls in the group have probably never even visited the website they just know MaryJane through the magazine, newsletter and other info I bring to them.

Hello Noreen. I'm from NE Ohio. A BIG Farmgal Hug to ya! Hang in there, it'll come together for ya. Meantime, enjoy all the chatting on here. It's very addictive and fun! I've learned so much.

Hi Noreen -
Welcome to the group! I'm a former Vermonter (Springfield and Chester), now living in Northeast PA. Hope you find a local group to join. I'm having the same problem here -signed up for a group last August and haven't heard anything. I guess maybe it just takes time!

Thank you all so much for responding. You are all so welcoming. I did finally hear from a woman this week who used to have a group. I will call her this week. Thanks again. Noreen in VT[/b] |

Hi Noreen! I know this is a REALLY old thread but I would love to find / form a group of women in my area with similar interests. Did you have any luck in locating a group?

Hi Noreen, We do dairy in Northern California. My husband is the relief at a local raw milk dairy. That is to say I get to drive him over the dairy on Saturday morning, if I need the van before 10 am that day (which is most Saturdays) I am a new kid on the block too. I have been hanging back in the corners for the last 6 months. I hope you had a bless resurrection Sunday.
