I made a lovely barter and received a vintage quilt that I want to hang on the wall over my staircase. What's the best method for hanging a quilt so as not to stress the fabric? It's a full/queen size with no batting, from the 1960s I would guess.

Use those fancy straight curtain rods that have the simple brackets that attach to the wall,( make sure to mount to studs in the wall ) that have the finials on the ends that is the same width of your quilt, put that foam pipe wrap insulation on the rod, that will make a soft round rod , so not to damage the quilt

You drape over, and either pin it to its self, or drape enough where it does not need to be pinned at all.

I would also suggest leaving it hang for only a few months and then take it down for a while to let it "rest." I find the biggest mistake people make is leaving older quilts hang or remain folded one way too long. Even if your quilts are folded in storage, they should be taken out and refolded occasionally to also help with thread stress. Melody |
