Inspired by the magazine, I started some sprout trays with left over nasturtium seeds. I have a ton of those seeds so it will be awhile before I can branch out, but what other favorites are folks sprouting? Also, if you clip the sprouts with scissors to harvest, will they grow again or are they finished?

I am using leftover "micro greens" seeds with good success. When I cut them, they did not grow back. I did not really give them much of a chance. I replanted the whole thing and the second round are up and being used. I also planted those little onion seeds that MJ showed in the magazine article. They are fun. A skinny little sprout that comes up and then unfolds with the seed on top. Very onion-y flavored. And a few of the garlic scape "seeds" also shown in the article. A couple of them have come up. I look forward to seeing what they do in the next few days.

Wow, my baby nasturtium leaves taste just like wasabi. Crazy! They would be perfect in sushi. What about the leggy stems? Anybody eating those up too or just the leaves? I'm going to have to re-plant my trays - the leaves are all gone now. :-)

I started my sprout tray last Thursday with some beet seeds. The packet said 7 to 10 days for germination but they were up on Tuesday!
I am really looking forward to them getting big enough to harvest some sprouts for sandwiches!

Are all seeds safe to use? How do you know which seeds you can use? Do you take the seed from it before you eat it? Can you tell I have never done this before......but it sounds so good! Thanks for any info you can give.

Noreen,
I would stick with plants that you know you can eat the leaves of. If you still have your Dec/Jan issue of the magazine, there was an article in there on how to start the sprout trays.
Hope that helps!
