What should i do with old jeans - I've lost weight and am still. Hubby thinks i should donate them to the local thrift store - when people buy there, all profits go to community programs. His other reason for this, is that then they are not clogging up space.
So, I must think of a project I can do with them, or pass them on. Thought about braiding a rug with them, but have never done so and, my shoulder has issues right now.
Any ideas for me?
Thanks. B |

I've seen those cute half aprons made with the top half.... I had some jeans where the button/snap had broken off, but the legs were still in good shape. I cut the legs off, cut open one seam, and made a tote bag with parts of the legs! It is so cute, I wish I had taken a pic of it, I gave it to my dil for her birthday and she loves it!!! I am saving the rest for an idea that I have for a denim quilt for my son using all his old hockey/baseball/football jerseys. And, then at some point I will make a denim and flannel quilt for myself. I would say though if you are not going to repurpose them, you should definitely donate them! :) And congrats on losing weight!

We use to have a really great quilt made out of them. It was backed with red print flannel. It was sooo warm. We used it when we went camping in Alaska. It was great. Wish I knew what happened to it.

| Thanks for the ideas - i may have a go at the apron idea - I'm a baker and my denim aprons are the ones that don't collect lint or stain so much. I think I will donate the 2-3 nice pairs and then use the other ones. Maybe i'll put them in one of my sewing bins in the basement (hubby will never know), then make something from them this winter. |

Beth, you're right, jeans make really good quilts! Nice, heavy, almost indestructible. I'm working on one made from cotton scraps and DH's old work jeans right now.

I have made a few of the denim rag quilts. They are so easy and work up quick! and boy are they super warm!!! My hubby and my son both have one.
