I have to do something with the middle part of our yard which is about 1/2 of an acre and is surrounded by the driveway and backdropped by a row of various small trees. It gently slopes to the dirt road in front of our property. What I want to do is build a dry creek bed that meanders from the top of the slope down toward the dirt road. I have researched how to build it, and have a pretty good idea what needs to be done. I want to plant native grasses (not right next to the creek bed) and maybe build a pergola at the top of the slope near the trees. Have any of you worked with native grasses and/or dry creek beds and do you have any advice or comments? We have a 125+ year old homestead, and anything we do is done to try to make it look like it is original to the homestead. (Except for the big pole shed that father-in-law built before we bought the property from him before he passed away. They tried to modernize everything and we are trying to make everything look like it originally did.) Would REALLY love any help that you could give me. It really is a big undertaking, not expensive to do but a lot of hard work.

Make sure you put a longggggggggg lasting weed barrier down , or you will be picking weeds from between rocks, also make sure you won't end up with flowing water from a big rain storm going right into , or onto something it should not.
