one thing in your garden this year, what is the one thing that your garden couldn't live without?
I don't have much room at my new house for a garden, but I know that impatiens are a perfect flower for all the shade that I have and they spread. I've always loved those and Vincas, so that would be my garden must have.
I kill veggies no matter how hard I try so I stick to pretty posies..hehe
How about you? hugs Jessie

I can't imagine only planting one thing ever..but if that were the case it would be tomatoes for sure. They are one of my very favorite foods. SUCH a big difference from what you can buy in a store. I think swiss chard would be my second choice....awesome green that goes forever when you cut and come again. But tomatoes..gotta have the fresh tomatoes!

| For vegies...don't have to think twice, definitely tomatoes! For flowers...a little tougher. Probably sweet peas, but then I like dahlias and I love zinnias. Oh and rudbeckia... Okay, a lot tougher! lol |

My veggie of choice would be tomatoes. And plants...hmmm...even though I've got a bazillion daylilies, if I see a cool new one, I'd buy it! If not, then a new Rose of Sharon or Hydrangea.

Definitely tomatoes.. Basil would be my herb of choice and for the flowers I love older flowers like hollyhocks, lambs ear and lilac's. I have not tried the sweet peas are they hard to grow?

Well for "veggies" they aren't really veggies but it would be tomatoes. For flowers I have to have gardenias. They grow on a shrub. Then living in South Texas I have to have wisteria. But, it grows like a weed so with any of them it doesn't take much work LOL.

Tomatoes for a veggie must and this year finally I am planting Siberian Irises. I feel that is what I have been missing in my garden. I have other irises, but not the graceful tall Siberians. Got a gift card from a co-worker for Christmas and a gift certificate to Roots and Rhizomes from my sister. Bring on the Siberian Irises.

Yeah I agree with the tomatoes but has anyone noticed how different home grown potatoes taste than store bought? Its just night and day. For flowers, I love clematis and I am on a gladiola kick now too. My grandmother had them and they make me think of her...and dame edna.

I would plant something that the pesky squirrels would choke on! tee-hee. They ate all my broccoli this year - every last one. Now I am fearful of planting my snap peas in February. If I could plant something new, I would like to try corn. Right now I grow peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and broccoli for the squirrels, and snap peas.

Zinnias would be the flowers.

Depends on why I could only plant one thing. If I only had "room" for one thing, I would move. If I only had room for one veggie and one flower, I would plant tomatoes and greenbeans in the flower bed.

Well, being a landscape designer by profession choosing only one plant would be a big challenge for me - but if I really got pushed into that corner I'd have to say my favorite flowers are Oxeye Daisies. As for vegetables I'd have to go with Butternut squash - fried squash blossoms are so tasty and baked squash with butter and brown sugar is to die for.
