my giant industrial fans, and my mister systems out in the barns and coops. It is 1:30 pm and its now 99 degrees, we will be over the hundred mark within an hour. Summer weather has hit with a vengence, and its the first week of June. I can't wait to see what August brings, and thats our fair time.

Wow, Teresa!! We are still in the 40. It is so cold and rainy. Still feels like winter.

Yep, teresa,

We're feeling it here, too. We're already in the mid to upper 90s. My animals are free-range, but I check the water about 3 or more times a day. Whew! It's HOT.

My livestock, i.e., cattle , goats , sheep, are all in large pastures with ponds and trees, but they also have access to their barns, via alleyways, and they do come in for the fans and misters on their own. I can not free range any of my poultry, coyotes, bobcats, kit fox, hawks etc would wipe me out, but their coops are twice what they need for room, and again they have fans and misters also. I also have auto waters for everyone, but I still check them at least twice a day.

The weather here in Pa is crazy this year. It has been so hot too soon. 90 tomorrow. Today after church I stopped at Kmart and we were under a tornado watch! It wasn't raining there but when I got home it had poured. The wind has been ferocious since. We never had tornado warnings. It scares my poor Beagle girlfriend so much I feel sorry for her. She glues herself to me, not that I mind because she is so sweet. I guess I shouldn't complain about the heat because in the scope of things our poor gulfcoast neigbors need our prayers and help. What a terrible disaster! We will feel this for years to come. Blessings and peace. Darlene

Teresa,

I'm thinking about misters for the chickens this year, too. I know they'll be miserable soon. Or, at the very least, a big box fan. I'm not a fan of the heat!

It is supposed to get up near 90 this weekend which hopefully will dry things out a little. I just wish it would stop raining long enough for me to weed the garden. I think my toes are starting to web.

Sherry, don't have pics, but they are very simple to make, you can buy the hose and emiters from Lowes or any other home improvment center, screw in the emiters and run the hose above where you want your misters, attach to a hose bib, and turn on low. Mine are not on timers, but i know a few people that do have them that way, so I know it can be done.

Lorraine, use 2 liter bottles, fill 3/4 full of water and freeze, put in with rabbits around 11 am or when the heat comes on, change if nessacary during the day. My rabbits will either straddle them or lay up against them, I've even used small froz bottles in the nest boxes, and that has saved more than 1 litter of kits. This will also keep your bucks from looseing their sperm counts.

The hit is on down in SW Louisiana, also!!!!! It comes with the humidity, too. Muggy!!!! Keep cool, hope all of the ranch animals will be okay. Keep those fans blowing for them.
