Thought I'd share this pic with you. My dad made this gate, heavy iron, back in the 50s. It was the entry to the front yard through a picket fence to the farmhouse I grew up in. (I can see that house from my front windows)...

My parents are both gone and most of the farm has been sold, but my hubby and I have built our house on 3 acres that my dad deeded to us. When we were getting ready for auctions and sales I claimed this gate. Just this week, however, got it cleaned it up, gave it a fresh coat of paint and attached it to this post which is one of the gate posts that my dad set . . he set 'em deep and strong!!! It is nonfunctional as a gate but I thought it would look nice here at the end of my driveway.
