I am working on a piano bench needlepoint panel covered in muted rose and soft pink roses with the name of Aragon stamped in the lower right hand corner. Since I don't own a piano---thought I'd make a bolster out of it... Anyone ever hear of that particular needlepoint company?

It's a pre-worked design and I have already ordered a ton of tapestry wool in a very muted China Blue color for the background that should arrive in about 10-days. I am itching to get started on it, but I would like to know more about Aragon....Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Oh...I bought it on Etsy and was told it was a "vintage" panel from the 30's.

Thanks-

Melody,

I couldn't find anything about a company with that name, but Catherine of Aragon was a big fan of needlepoint. Maybe it was inspired by her? Good luck in your search!

Melody...I love Vintage anything...you'll have to post a picture
when you finish it so we can all drool.

Your colors sound beautiful for it. Good luck on tracing down information on it.

This panel is HUGE-I can almost picture this as a bolster pillow on a big bed or on a vintage overstuffed cottage style couch. I can't wait to get going on it-I was told it is petit point
10-mesh linen-the wholes are very small. The work will take a while as I like to take my time to enjoy the process and the China Blue tapestry yarn is going to transform the background and accent all of those soft pale pink and rose color blossoms. It makes me feel rather elegant working on a vintage piece. I always take needlepoint with me to our soap shows instead of standing around or sitting waiting for someone to buy my soap-I sit in a comfortable lawn chair and stitch away-I always get someone to come around the tables to take a closer look at what I am doing. One year we went back to a previous soap show and I was busy with my needlepoint when an elderly gentleman came to the table took one look at me and said "Haven't you finished that yet?" He happened to attend the show the year before and I just happened to be working on the same piece he saw me doing back then... I just laughed. He said his wife now deceased always had needlework in her hand whether she was waiting in the car for him or sitting on the couch at the end of the day-He said I reminded him of her; smiled and walked away. Wasn't that sweet?

I will definitely take some photos put them on my blog and post progress occasionally throughout the summer. This is going to be so much fun!
