Update on my calf born 6/20... She is doing well. Sass has been nursing off of Maizy these 2 weeks without me milking at all...all edema is gone, baby is getting big :) and no apperance of mastitis. I am excited because Maizy has seemed to calm down! She does not go crazy when I brush her or touch her udder. She is realizing I'm the lady with the goods and she better behave or she gets none! So yesterday and today I was able to clean her udder with hot soapy water and slather it up with some bag balm!!! She is allowing me to love on her and she has not been really bad when I have had to capture Sassafrass to put her in a halter and start tying her up! I'm rather please and plan on doing this routine and start in on trying to milk this week..wish me luck and say a prayer! Leanne

Good luck, Leanne! I am going to take some pointers from you. I hope to be doing this in about 9 months. So please tell me what you are doing so I can take notes. I'm glad Maizy is being so good for you. And that the baby's growing and healthy.

Kris
