Eastern Washington is not typically a wet place, sure we get rain in the spring, but the climate is nothing like Western Washington where I grew up. This year, however, has been wetter than any in years and I have counted at least 12 kinds of mushrooms growing in my yard and garden - they are still out there too, on the 5th of July. Crazy!! I think I have as many kinds of mushrooms growing as I do veggies!

(and elsewhere in the garden I have a bumper crop of burdock and bindweed too)

do you eat them? I've always wanted to but never took the time to figure out which ones are edible.

Nope - my grandma gathered mushrooms for years, then went to the hospital once, so I mostly leave them alone. I'm sure I could figure it out, I am fairly intelligent, but my brain is pretty full right now and there is too much riding on my getting it right:)

I'm lucky with my soil - tons of earthworms too!
