OK, I have planted a bunch of pole beans, & they are thriving, but due to work etc, I have not provided proper support. They are laying on the ground & spreading. Will they still produce OK, or do I need to try to untangle the mess & train up a pole??? This is the 1st year that bunnies have not destroyed my beans immediately, & they actually look quite viable..except for the mangled mess. Oy Vey
You can leave them or just lift up the mass and tieup to something. Beans laying on the ground will rot quicker and be much harder to pick, but it's a personal preference and available time thing.

I would probably make some quick "teepees" with bamboo poles and just lift the tangles up and with some twine sort of tie them by wrapping up the poles. Like Angela said..they will rot easier and be hard to find otherwise. I have tied mine up later than I should and it still works. I wouldn't try to untangle them...just tie up the best you can to get them off the ground. I am glad the bunnies let YOU get the beans this year!!
