I don't know what is sparking this reading streak I am on of books with food themes, but here is another great one. This book is about a woman whose husband dies and a year later she has to go to China to investigate a paternity claim against her dead husband. Since she writes for food magazines she combines the trip with writing an article on a young aspiring chinese chef who is trying to go back to the authentic imperial chinese cooking traditions. The book is amazingly rich in detail not only of chinese cuisine, but the history and culture of China. It is also a love story. While there are no recipes in the book itself, the author asks you to go to her website in order to learn more about Chinese Cuisine, find recipes, restaurant recommendations etc. www.nicolemones.com. A great book! Sara |

I just finished another food themed book---The School of Essential Ingredients. Excellent!
"Let us never forget that the cultivation of the earth is the most important labor of man. When tillage begins, other art follows. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of civilization."
